Canelo is a -700 to beat +400 Saunders and he was favored by about that same huge margin over both Jacobs and Kovalev. So clearly the oddsmakers think GGG is a far more difficult and risky fight for Canelo than his last two fights and his next fight. We are talking about Canelo being a -700 favorite over softy Saunders compared to Canelo being a much closer -260 favorite over GGG. Please, enough about Canelo the great risk taker.

If the fight was to end up in a neutral city and not Vegas those odds would be much closer.

Odds numbers don’t tell the whole story of how good your opponent is.

And you’re missing the whole point of how this is risky. Booking a fight while you have an upcoming fight with a top opponent never ends well.

Oddsmakers had Erik Morales as the favorite vs Zahir Raheem, an interim fight, before Morales vs Pacquiao II, which was agreed on already.

Oddsmakers had Judah as the heavy favorite vs Baldomir, while Mayweather vs Judah was already signed and sealed.

You are missing the point. Fighters having a fight vs a solid fighter and then booking another fight vs a better opponent can lead to complacency. Overlooking the opponent because you have a bigger event after that.

It’s actually quite easy to understand how this helps BJS and his chances of winning increases.

DUH! He's always the betting favorite. Fishnets makes sure to pay Ginger's judges ahead of time.

No one wants to see a third installment of these two BUMS fighting each other YAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWNNNNN!

Golovkin is past it, no need for a trilogy. It’d simply be an unearned ‘nice’ check for Golden Boy to use for splurging....

                    Just not good all around.

Canelo is at the point of his career where he thinks he can accomplish anything and everything, no matter what. People around him gassing his head up. He’s human. Even superman Roy Jones Jr had his limit, and it didn’t even take a great fighter to bring him down from the clouds. Just a solid boxer who was hungry in Tarver.

I thought Derevyanchenko beat GGG 116-111. That being said, Canelo was trailing on the cards to an old man who gets knocked out by everyone worthwhile now.

                      They both looked awful.

                      no way

Derevychenko is not sharp/threatening like Canelo... and he is not built to handle bigger fighters, neither in stature nor in style

Kovalev was doing well until he got caught, he would have drilled little Derevychenko
