Where abouts should he be rated of all time? Is there anyone in history that could have beat him at 168?
Just how great was joe calzaghe?

He was a great fighter. Very tough style for any opponent. He's right up there with Ward at 168. Roy was the best of the three, but the other two had more fights at that weight class and better wins in totality...Though, Roy's win over Toney is the best of the bunch. -
It is hard to really gauge because he spent most of his career over in Europe and didn't fight the top Americans until they were old, save for Lacy.
DO I think he'd have defeated a prime Ward, Roy or Toney, no. He made the HOF so like him or not, he was obviously very good.Comment

Great fighter with his own unique style, and I always found him to be highly entertaining.
He and Ward are the two greatest Super Middles in my opinion, and would have been an amazing clash of styles if they ever fought
My only complaint is that early on he never faced Nigel Benn or Steve Collins, but that's about itComment

Calzaghe would slap ward around...ward should've thanked Goosen for hooking him up to only fight in the U.S. during the super six.Comment

He fought Roy as soon as he could Shake Warren Shackles, and we saw the results.

I think Toney, whilst a great fighter, has always been drastically overrated by Americans, and he was great for only a relatively short period. I think Calzaghe would have outworked him to a UD.It is hard to really gauge because he spent most of his career over in Europe and didn't fight the top Americans until they were old, save for Lacy.

Ward is a 50/50 where I give Ward a slight edge.
Roy would have beat him.
A younger Hopkins beats him.Comment

I thought Toney's run from 1990-until he lost to Roy was impressive. He fought like 10 times in 1990. He may not be an ATG but I don't think Calzaghe beats him.I think Toney, whilst a great fighter, has always been drastically overrated by Americans, and he was great for only a relatively short period. Ward beats the brakes off joe & if B-Hop can knock down Joe then "Lights Out" would do just that, lights out.I think Toney, whilst a great fighter, has always been drastically overrated by Americans, and he was great for only a relatively short period.
