There are levels though. If you were Dubois' manager last March would you have said "Take the money, who cares what happens to your health" knowing that the biggest test he had taken at that point was going the distance with Kevin Johnson?

If I was Kownacki's handlers, I'd have had him take the AJ fight. I think it depends on what you think your fighter's ceiling is. Realistically, I never envisioned Kownacki having a sustained run that would be worth passing on a career payday. It was pretty obvious to see there were serious flaws in the Martin fight, he looked like he was throwing punches under water they were so slow. I'm not sure his flaws are completely fixable.

If I'm handling a fighter who has more potential and upside and can correct his flaws, I would be more likely to pass on the money.

That's just my take tho.

Great answer. A limited guy like Adam hit's the boxing lottery with a title shot for millions. Something tells me he never enters that world again. I wish him luck but I just don't see it.

Ko-wnackis trainer has come out with a blockbuster... Adam was hit in the ear which threw off his balance and footwork. Helenius's gloves had concrete and extenders in them. Adam dressed in the waiting room with a 50lb costume paced back and forth wore himself down. he took it off hoping he would get his leg strength back.it didn't work

For $6 million, I'd go in with AJ, and I've already got a career that will keep me earning well beyond my thirties.

Kownacki is a fighter. I don't think he would have been scared of AJ. But he certainly could have done with making some decent money out of this game.

Instead of one pounding for $6 million, he'll now take years of shots to the head for a fraction of the earnings.
