If andy won't work hard to be as fit as possible and likes to do whatever he feels like, no trainer will be a good fitComment

Old dog old tricks. Andy is a fake Mexican and squandered the best opportunity he ever had. You had a good enough trainer and now nobody will work with you.Comment

Andy's problem has nothing to do with the trainer but his mindset and attitude towards his profession as a price fighter. He needs to change those thinges first, otherwise with a new trainer the story will be exactly the same.
He is only talking about gonna do this and gonna do that...meanwhile just enjoy eating without anyone disturbing him.Comment

He was no different than the first fight. Difference is this time Joshua wasn't arrogant, actually prepared for the opponent in front of him and put in an exceptional performance. There's levels to the sport, ruiz had his rocky moment but normal service was resumed in the rematch. You're talking about different classes of fighter. Ruiz should maybe try fight wilder which is a very winnable fight for him with a good purse and go from there, but he has no business going anywhere near likes of fury or Joshua againLast edited by Madison Boxing; 03-06-2020, 04:27 PM.Comment

I guess I will do my usual "take the other side of the argument" post. First off, I picked Joshua in the rematch. Just think he is plain better than Ruiz. But after everything that happened in the space of half a year to Ruiz, I actually get it. He went from everyone's darling and the man everyone picked to end Joshua a second time (come on Boxing Scene posters... own up. You know who you are) to now a disowned and overly criticized has been.
The truth is somewhere in the middle. This is a good boxer with serious tools who also has some bad habits and handled success poorly. A change in scenery, a change in voices, and refocusing may get Ruiz to his top end talent level which is still pretty freaking good. He is not a scrub. He is not mid 40's. He did not get KO'd by Joshua and he lost that fight more than Joshua actually won it. Joshua was just smart enough to see Ruiz was out of it early on and just let Ruiz make all the mistakes.
I still think this guy can compete. Maybe not consistently at the Fury/Joshua/Wilder level, but certainly at the Ortiz/Whyte/Pulev level. That is still a real profitable and respectable career.Comment

Andy can change trainers like underwear it won't matter if HE is not disciplined. According to Arum, Ruiz hasn't been disciplined with his weight for a while. Doing things like going to the gym, doing road work, shadow boxing, watching what he is eating, is something that Ruiz should be doing on his own.
If this what he does for a living then he should be more disciplined. He hit the scale at 293 against AJ and that wasn't his plan. That was pure and utter laziness. So changing trainers is good, but he has to do some work.Comment
