Remember Murata was the 1st choice but that deal fell through so that did give Callum a bit more leverage. But I kind of agree that they didn't need to stick to $10 mil. $* seems more than reasonable enough.

      Probably $10 million.
It wasn't 10M because that's what Smith asked for and he didn't get the fight. lol Golden Boy didn't give Saunders 8M if they did reports would say he got 8M and not "Neighboring 8M". Golden Boy probably offer 6-7M and Saunders wanted 8M and got close to 8M by haggling and negotiating. But he was within reason. Smith wanted damn near Jacobs money asked for 10M which wasn't within reason and didn't get the fight. Now he will continue making 1M or less. Nobody is paying him 10M if he fights Jacobs which looks like his only path to big money fight in 2020 he will be the B side to Jacobs and make probably half what Canelo offered him lol

Seems like it. From what i’ve heard on Smith’s team, they’re generally firm on an amount, and don’t seem to counter offer. That’s why they never counter offered an offer to fight BJS last year, they just said no. Didn’t make BJS any offers from their own side. Although Joe Gallagher did say they wanted a lot of money to fight BJS because it’s a tricky fight. So if he admitted they were firm on wanting big money to fight BJS, then i’m sure they were firm on an amount for Canelo too.

Also, i’d heard in mid January that BJS was always getting the fight, as long as they reached sensible agreement. DAZN pushed for Saunders because he talks **** and sells the fight. Smith has no personality. DAZN want BJS for that reason.

I posted here a couple of months ago that Canelo vacated the WBO 175 title very quickly on the agreement he was fighting Saunders for his 168 WBO title.

So despite what Golden Boy said, i think BJS was always front runner. But they like to keep people guessing on an opponent and string it out, i keeps it in the news and people interested. If they announce it too early, it loses steam.

Don't think there's anything wrong with asking for $10M. Dude's a legit #1 SMW in the world and the winner of WBSS. Beating Callum would have been the biggest thing Canelo has done in his life $10M is more than fair.

biggest thing? Now you guys are just taking the piss.

This was Groves' record when Smith saw him: 28-3-0
This was Kovalev's record when Canelo saw him: 34-3-1

Who got the better win from those fights, Canelo or Smith? Smith has 2 former World Champions to his name. Canelo got his brother on his resume...

the Smith family just salty for what happened to Liam. They all wanna cash out too but skurrred

Although Ryder was never that well known among casuals, a lot of people in the UK were talking about that fight and felt Ryder got robbed. I think people would tune in to see the rematch.

It’s unlikely he’s going to get a unification fight (may not even want one) and with BJS & Canelo tied up, his best options are maybe a Jacobs fight, or Ryder rematch.
Most people reckon John was robbed - or more like shortchanged - in the Fielding fight too, just his bad luck to always be the B side but yet not quite good enough to put it beyond all doubt.
