Interesting saga on how we got to Canelo-BJS, Murata looked like a done deal for Japan, but decision was made not to not go all the way back to 160. Callum Smith originally asked for $10 million ( which didnt help his cause).... #boxing

These cowards are pricing themselves out.
Take a risk, beat Canelo, THEN you become the man and can ask for big money.
Not before. -
**** Smith he doesn’t even deserve a penny or the belt, he’s a thief, that strap belongs to Ryder who backed him up and bullied him for most of the fight.Comment

Smith has a high opinion of his worth, or his team do.
They ducked the BJS fight last year. Wouldn’t even counter offer.
There’s negotiating and then there’s just pricing yourself out. If they offer $6m, and you refuse to move from $10m at all, then you’re pricing yourself out. At least BJS wanted the Canelo fight but knew there was a bit more than $6m to gain, negotiated and got the fight and what he wanted.
If you’re the clear B side and have no real say in the fight, then sticking to fee nearly double what the offer was is just pricing yourself out.Comment

It’s a bad look for a Calum..
I can’t understand his point of view, if he wins he gets huge cut in rematch. If he looses his name is elevated just by fighting him and brings more money in future fights.Comment

In fairness to Smith he did make approx £4 million ($6m) in the WBSS final, so oscar saying they are getting offered 10x or whatever he said is simply not true, and I can see where Smith's team came to that figure. But I do agree, it was too much, ok try your luck, but you have to bend after and as you guys say, the opportunity is HUGE, even if all they were offering was the same as the Groves fight...I think you take it, he isnt going to make that money anywhere else except for a Sky ppv, and Sky would only put him on ppv against BJS, Canelo, or GGGSmith has a high opinion of his worth, or his team do.

that may be the best fight for Smith available right now, in the UK anyway.
Although Ryder was never that well known among casuals, a lot of people in the UK were talking about that fight and felt Ryder got robbed. I think people would tune in to see the rematch.
It’s unlikely he’s going to get a unification fight (may not even want one) and with BJS & Canelo tied up, his best options are maybe a Jacobs fight, or Ryder rematch.Comment
