Am so glad he got what he deserves (Nothing), am shocked he thinks his self worth is up to that, I get negotiating but don’t over do it, especially when the A-side has so many choices and you choose not to eliminate the competition (Refuses to fight BJS).

Canelo’s last two opponents got $12 million.

Smith countered a lowball offer with $10 million.

      It’s completely fair.

Can someone explain to me why it’s so dumb for Smith to ask for $10 million when Canelo’s last two opponents got $12 million and BJS is getting $8 million?

It seems like he knew what he was doing.

This is one way to look at it. The other way is Smith knows Canelo doesn't want to take a more risky fight in May, say Andrade or GGG. This means his value is a bit increased. Smith is definitely not worth $10 mil if everything is equal. But he tried to get as much as he could. Can't really fault him for trying to maximize his take.

This seems to be what happened with Kovalev, Canelo eventually came back and gave him a bit more.

Canelo always has choices of opponents, but some of those choices are more dangerous than others s the less dangerous do have some room to negotiate.

Yeah but Kovalev was a well known name. As shot as he may be, he’s been around near the top of boxing for years, fighting in big fights with guys like Hopkins and Ward.

Jacobs had a decent profile fight with GGG in USA.

BJS and Smith haven’t had those big fights, especially in USA. So i don’t think they can command the same purse as Kovalev. Refusing to budge from $10m when you’re getting offered $6m has just cost him.

At least BJS was willing to negotiate, he knew he could get more than $6m, but still had to be reasonable and weigh up the opportunity v purse, rather than lose both.

He was an idiot and it cost him the fight. The report is that Saunders is getting in the neighborhood of 8M not that he got 8M but close to 8M. The last report a few days ago was that Canelo had a offer on the table for him at 7.75M I'm guess that's what he finally got. Big difference then Smith demanding 10M which priced himself out the fight. Both guys have been making at or even less then 1M their last fights demanding 10X that was just ******.

Did he refuse to budge from $10 million or was that a counter offer?

What did BJS ask for to get himself to $8 million?

                    Probably $10 million.

Then Team Smith are retards, because BJS and Murata are around. Which gives Canelo more incentive NOT to offer him a deal.
