The Alexander fight could’ve only happened in Sept because he had a mandatory against Brook due in May, Brook withdrew and he ended up fighting Lee Purdy. Alexander then lost his title to Porter later that year.

Cut a long story short, there was never any demand for this fight to happen...
was guerrero any more of a draw than alexander? I don't think so

but we need dunn and larry for the official excuses

      Guerrero
      Ortiz
      Berto
      Baldomir

Lmao what an awful resume man.
Absolutely awful. Margarito would’ve F’d Floyd up bad. He knew it.
So he ducked like a coward.

        That fight done 1m buys...

Guerrero was main eventing on HBO against Berto whilst Alexander was fighting on Lamont Peterson’s undercard.

Honestly dude I probably dislike Floyd more than you but that doesn’t make me delusional about him. In no way shape or form did Floyd Mayweather avoid Devon Alexander. Don’t even try and suggest that sort of nonsense.

Honestly I thought Floyd Sr. carrying on with Guerrero's pops and all the sideshow antics is the reason people bought the ppv.

It definitely wasn't like Mayweather vs. Guerrero was some major superfight on the level of Ali/Frazier thats for sure.

Guerrero was just another slow, flat footed short armed, low risk fighter that Floyd could look good against. All anybody is saying is that Alexander could have possibly posed more of a style risk due to his speed, southpaw stance, slickness, etc.

Well keep hating on Floyd then. I'm just saying whats on my mind. Could care less if anybody calls it hating.

Baldymir was a serious waste of time imo. He fought Baldymir instead of Margarito for the same purse 8 million.

That doesn’t change the fact that Guerrero was a bigger draw. Mayweather-Alexander probably does Mayweather-Berto numbers, Floyd always liked to exploit the Latino fanbase too, that’s why he always fought on the Mexican holidays, the reality it Guerrero was just a more suitable dance partner.

He beats Alexander just as easily as he beats Guerrero. Floyd was a level above that level of competition, and as much as I hate to say it as Pacquiao fan was probably on another level to everyone in his era.

I’m not saying you’re hating but do you genuinely believe Mayweather avoided a guy like Alexander? C’mon mate that’s like saying Lennox Lewis avoided Herbie Hide.

I think Mayweather is a scumbag in many respects but I honestly don’t believe he ducked anyone.

Lolz......Alexander really should have dropped a decision to Kotelnik.

I guess him yelping, hitting gloves, elbows, and air really impressed the judges in that fight.

My point is, it wouldn't have been competitive or fun to watch, Floyd W 120-108.

Lmao dude has like 10 losses on his record and Floyd chose him instead of the current boogeyman at the time Margarito.

Gotta give it to Floyd, he’s an incredible career manager.

It helped sell tickets & sold 1 million PPV, Devon was on fire though yet wouldve flopped with the purchases & tix

Alex didn't have Mexicans & Chicanos supporting him while Robert did

Honestly I could care too much less who sells more tickets. The man asked why didn't Floyd fight Alexander from a competitive standpoint, and in hindsight yeah I'd much rather have seen him fight a few more slick boxers in their prime than the same old, flat footed, slow come forward latin guys that he could exploit for money on a Latin Holiday. I mean at least his uncle Roger fought a prime Pernell Whitaker, as well as Chavez. Fought Chavez 2x if I am not mistaken. And people wonder why boxing is such a niche sport today.
