Floyd Mayweather vs. Devon Alexander in 2013.

Why didn't Floyd fight Alexander when he had the IBF title? We haven't seen Floyd fight a fast southpaw since Judah.

Cause Alexander isn’t a draw. It’s not like Floyd was fighting scrubs in 2013. Guerrero was rated top 10 P4P and was interim WBC champ, and then he fought Canelo in September.

The Alexander fight could’ve only happened in Sept because he had a mandatory against Brook due in May, Brook withdrew and he ended up fighting Lee Purdy. Alexander then lost his title to Porter later that year.

Cut a long story short, there was never any demand for this fight to happen...

Didn’t the IBF demand Alexander fought his mandatory as well?

Alexander’s name was thrown out there by Mayweather when Guerrero began pricing himself out due to Mayweather not having anyone else to fight at the time.

Because of this, Mayweather mentioned Alexander, but had no actual intention of fighting him. Mayweather ended up having to give Guerrero an extra million for the fight to happen.

The same reason Fraud ducked Bradley. Fraud doesnt like slick black boxers! Alexander>Maidana>Fraud. Alexander didnt need to run and hug to get a clean shutout.

I remember before the guerrero fight , it was mentioned here and there that devon was a possibility.

However at that time most wanted to see guerrero, a lot of people that after the cotto fight floyd was washed up. and that maybe the ghost could rough him up after his prison sentence. didn't work out at all in the slightest

Yea it was both making a issue of it basically if they fought each other they both get stripped.

Alexander wasn't any better than Guerrero. A different type of fighter but not really a different level.

Yeah I agree. Guerrero was arguably viewed as the bigger threat at the time.
