Comments Thread For: Rigondeaux To Remain at 118, Ring Return Eyed For Summer

Two-time Olympic gold medal winner Guillermo Rigondeaux (20-1, 13 KOs) is ready for bigger things after claiming a title around his waist. Rigondeaux, now under the Premier Boxing Champions banner, moved down to bantamweight last month and captured the vacant WBA "regular" title with a twelve round decision over Liborio Solis.

The Loma fight was a legit 'No Mas' though. Its hardly like Loma did a Fury, leaning on him etc to take his legs, or overpowered Rigo due to size, he beat him in the skill dept with movement and angles and Rigo had no answer except 'I think my hand hurts about now'.

        Rigo should be considering retirement.

I like Rigo but he wasn't looking too hot in his last outing. The years taking their toll and he's getting too old as a lower weight fighter and slowing down considerably.

Maybe he's trying to conserve himself for one last big fight and leave it all in the ring, I don't know. Either way he can't keep taking shots like that. I don't wanna see him permanently damaged

Got to agree with that. In his prime his reflexes put a cat to shame and he was almost untouchable, but he looks touchable now, and one thing we know or sure with Inoue is that he will touch him hard.

Inoue will have learned a lot from the Donaire fight and he's likely prime about now. Prime (current) Inoue vs prime Rigo ? Got to fancy Rigo to make it a long night for Inoue. Current Rigo vs Inoue ? I think Rigo gets retired - hard.

Rigo has stepped up and passed the stage of being the 'boring fighter' as casuals usually call him. But he has slipped a slight bit recently... the years doing what they always do to a fighter. I don't think he wants a Inuoe fight, but a Donut Aire rematch would be fun to watch, as would a unification fight or two.
