Why do people call Merchant racist because he doesn't like Mayweather and Wilder? Maybe it's their personality he doesn't like? From what i've seen of Merchant he doesn't like any fighters apart from Pacquiao.
Anyone remember Holmes vs Cooney? He's been at this for quite a while now.
I'm reluctant to bring race into boxing and I don't live in America but I can certainly see why people might think he has certain issues.
All that aside, the man's a prick anyway.
Why is to you think Merchant was supporting Fury? I listened to see what the fuss was about (it was long & tedious) but it seemed all Larry's references to the fight were with regard the enjoyment of a big US heavyweight event.
He said he had been happy ever since Tyson Fury won. How many commentators do you know who express such glee after one of their countrymen has just lost to a foreigner?
Lol yet I remember Larryx (not merchant) and quite a few others cheering on barrera when he fought Joe Smith jr
These guys just don’t like when people talk facts they make it about race it’s why Fury is doing us a favor and ridding us of a Deontay Wilder who also pushes racism .
The actual interview was Merchant praising the Frazier’s , Ali’s and Foreman’s when he says is exactly true not many black American top heavyweights anymore ,is this not a fact ? Ha
Most top guys in heavyweight are not in the United States no matter what color ,these guys cry about anything .
Lol.. that's dumb even by Merchants standards. AJ is fairly black after all. Looking down the line you have Whyte, Ortiz, Joyce, Dubois and others coming up as well.
I knew the dumb old man was desperate for attention but now it's just getting sad..
Double standards and hypocrisy are rampant with afrocentrics and ******** in the U.S.
If you think so that just means you don't understand the true message. Most likely you don't want to understand.
Naturally there are those who really are hypocrites, but most are not. There has never been a time when black people fighting for our rights and a better world for all were not maligned and vilified.
To this day (no pun intended) that's one thing which hasn't changed one bit.

If it's ok for blacks to do, it should be ok for whites to do. When it's not, there's racism. If I can't say white power then you can't say black power and vice versa. Keep that same equality energy or stfu. Afrocentric hypocrite bigots are just as bad as hypocrite feminists. Cry for equality when they really want a leg up over who they claim to want to be equal to. It's nauseating and pathetic. If great black hope offends you but saying great white hope doesn't, you are a hypocrite and a douche bag.
I do think Merchant is a bigot with double standards though. It was ok for Pacquiao to fight Algieri and Rios but Berto was terrible for Floyd. Merchant is a clown and I always thought so, even as a kid. He hated Roy and Floyd because they were many levels ahead of the brawlers Merchant loves to watch fight. Merchant should've been fired from HBO for his antics imo. Same with Lampley and his bias cheerleading. I'm glad HBO boxing is dead because of Merchant and Lampley.
