Go look at the broadcast fellas.... Larry was pissed during that fight because Pavlik fought the best.

He's a biased racist old man.

lets not turn this around and make this another 'white peepo so bad' kinda thing when the only people bringing race into the fight were wilder and maybe 1 or 2 black reporters asking about black history/racism around the first fight etc.

let's also NOT FORGET that 'great white hope' is thrown around all the time, one of the black american anchors asked fury two days before the fight about being a 'great white hope' etc.

***some*** in the black community are just fuccing LIVID right now and angry that they didnt get what they thought they were entitled too...a black american heavyweight in black history month who is fighting against 'oppression' from the last "foe hunnit yearz". why are we acting like there isn't a big bunch from that community that are so damn salty and reactionary as is evident with them now mad at Merchant and coming up with tampererd gloves conspiracies.

saw this same mentality with trump after *****. people get conditioned to having something their way and then when they don't get it their way, they feel like their entitlement has been ripped from them and they begin to lash out.
      to PROVE my point;

I just watched that. Notice how mad he gets at the phrase 'great black hope' and calls it racist, bringing up that blacks have always been the face of boxing and that it was WHITES that needed a great hope.

ignoring the hypocrisy, isn't it kind of telling of the mentality of someone who throws a phrase like 'great white hope' around but then gets angry and defensive when it is applied to their race? it is an admission that the term 'great white hope' has negative conotations and is meant as a sort of 'sneak-diss' at white people.

how patronising to be called a great white hope as fury was labelled by a black man. he isnt fighting for 'white' people so there's that, but then the 'hope' part? why are we still using that term when the last two decades of the hw division have been mostly dominated by white people?

What a very ignorant, de****able and racist old senile coot Larry merchant has become? Like many other boxing fans, he can't wait till the day when black boxing becomes extinct.

There are currently black heavyweight boxers/fighters all over the world. He is only focusing on the U.S. Market.

The man is out of step and out of touch with reality and is behind on the times. Boxing is no longer a mainstream sport stateside anyhow.

He often gloats about the success of European white boxers only because they are white. However, I have a question for Mr. Merchant.

Where are all the American born, white bred American Heavyweight fighters? You sick piece of shit!

I am glad that Floyd cussed this pink, bigoted, evil, racist motherfucker out. It couldn't have happened to a much nicer guy.

Wow. You really are conflating things. First of all Larry Merchant doesn't speak for anyone expect Larry Merchant. He certainly doesn't speak me.

Second the flag kneeling thing is ****** on so many levels. Why would you want to bring politics into football. One of the reasons people are into sports is to have a break from the day-to-day life. Work, marriage, life, politics are all important - but a break from the seriousness is important as well. Bringing politics into football disgusted me. I barely watched any games the last two years. Way to go NFL piss off your fans so they don't watch you any more.

Thirdly not everyone backs fighters because they're of the same race. I never liked the Klitschkos, especially Wladimir. I guess that makes me a race traitor.

As a side note (but what should be the only thing that matters) is that I don't like either Wilder or Fury. I don't like Wilder because he can't box. Great power but it's embarrassing that he held a belt. I didn't even begin to think of Fury as anything but a joke until the Klitschko fight. And I still think that both Wilder and Fury would be destroyed by Lennox Lewis, Tyson, Holmes, Foreman and many others.

Larry wasn’t racist. Find me one instance where he got angry and said something racist. When people get angry they will let hints of racism slip. It would have happened at least once after all these years on live television.

I’ve seen him shove people, threaten to kick someone’s ass, get into dragged out arguments that lasted forever. Never once did get exposed as someone who was coming from a racist place. He just doesn’t like people who have a tendency to trash talk or get loud. Who does? You might as a viewer because it’s fun to see but it’s not fun to deal with. He loved Mosley, Barrera, and Pacquiao off the top of my head. What do they all have in common? They aren’t trash talkers.

Racism isn’t everywhere just because you see it everywhere. It’s in your mind sometimes. Take a second look at some of these cases you’ve built against perceived racists. Guaranteed you got some guys labeled wrong.

It just goes to show that many white people and non blacks are only patriotic when it is expedient to be so. Other than that, they couldn't give a damn about patriotism. For example, when black Americans are competing in the Olympics, like basketball; Most white people are rooting for them to lose. All they ever care about is preserving their so-called fucking master race at the end of the day. The Goddamned fucking hypocrites!
