Comments Thread For: Breland Was Looking Out For Deontay Wilder's Best Interests

by Thomas Gerbasi - Deontay Wilder said all the right things after his loss to Tyson Fury last Saturday night. Mark Breland did the right thing. Throwing in the towel in the seventh round of the highly anticipated rematch in Las Vegas was a decision that will be debated for some time in the Wilder camp, but it shouldn't be. There shouldn't be a discussion...

It was a frightful beating wilder took....I question his skill set and seriously question his boxing iq but one thing I don’t question is his courage or his chin. The man took a frightful beating by a man who had 43lbs on him.....that’s literally like a jr lightweight taking on w light heavyweight

I get the whole gladiator fighting to the death thing and the courage it takes to adopt that mindset, but risking your life uneccesarily out of pride and refusing to quit while getting your brains beaten out in a fight you can't possibly win...

        That's next level ******!

What a wonderful well written article, I must commend the author.

Having said that, Wilders family need to send a thank you card to Mark Breland,he saved Wilder from himself. Wilder must also apologise for his ill timed disrespectful remarks on Mark.

Finally he needs to identify the yes men in his team then fire them starting from his head coach!

MB did the right thing but he's finished in Wilder's corner.Leave the non decision making to the head trainer who threw him under the bus.If Fury had real punching power Wilder would've been hurt real bad.Or stopped much earlier.

Having a blocked ear full of blood in a room so loud you can't hear yourself think would be disorienting enough...

Never mind that there's some big bald dude smashing you all over the show at the same time.

To die with honour and go out on your shield defending the motherland...sheesh

It weren't the battlefields of Wakanda eh!

                    Lou Dibella and now Breland.....

It seems they were the two guys that genuinely cared about him.
