I had a lot of respect for him immediately after the fight. He said he wanted to go out on his shield, credited Fury for his performance, and said he had stuff going on but didn’t want to make excuses (essentially I took that as he felt off, but wanted to come back stronger).
He REALLY should have just left it at that, took his vacation, and got back to work.
At this point, his excuses are getting worse and worse and may end up having a much worse effect on his career and legacy than this loss did.
I was always raised to own my failures, losses and mistakes and to do my best to learn from them. I was raised believing that the worst thing to do in failure was to deflect it on others and blame it on other people and things instead of taking full responsibility and trying to get better.
At this point, and I know these are harsh words, as you all know I picked Wilder to win by decision and have said a lot of great things about his power and also his underrated boxing ability... I don’t think I will ever root for Wilder again.
