you're missing the point... He was never offered the fight in the first place. He answered a hypothetical question from a reporter and said that his preference would be not to jump right into a training camp after finishing up a fight. You know the same s*** canelo pulled with Kovalev. Since benavidez doesn't think the short notice is an issue for him, why won't Canelo and golden boy offer him the fight? It makes perfect sense.
