Comments Thread For: Wilder To Fury: You Were Strung Out On Coke, Big As A House When I Found You!
LAS VEGAS Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury pushed each other, traded insults and promised knockouts during an often-crass, unusually long press conference Wednesday at MGM Grand Garden Arena. [Click Here To Read More]
Wilder earned 20 million in the Ortiz rematch & now another 20+ million for the Fury rematch... I would say he is a pretty decent draw now. It took him awhile to get there. 325000 PPVs at $70 US the first fight so I wonder if they break 500000 buys this Saturday? I look forward to the 2 HW fights. I just wish they would have put a couple more HW fights on the card instead of the smaller guys. If there is a weight limit I lose interest fast. That is just my opinion though as I lost interest with all the catchweights, failed attempts to make weight, etc, etc...
He's right really as he didn't have to fight him after comeback fights against cab drivers .. granted it made financial sense but fury never earned the right in the ring . They needed each other financially but wilder didn't have to allow him back in so early to a championship fight .
Wilder often accidentally lets the truth slip when he runs his mouth. Hes basically admitting that he thought Fury was washed up and out of shape when they pursued him for the first fight. Its like when he keeps saying the "perfect for 12 rounds" thing because he knows Furys lack of punching power and defensive approach will buy him plenty of time to look for his one big shot.
Every time Wilder brings that up, it makes him look bad. The 1st Wilder fight was only Fury’s 3rd fight after his comeback. And he fought Wilder in 2018, in only 6 months after his 1st comeback fight after being away from boxing since 2015 battling drugs and depression. So technically, Wilder couldn’t beat an over weight coke head the 1st time around.
The fight on Saturday is only Fury’s 6th fight after his comeback. George Foreman had 29 fights before beating Michael Moorer and mostly fought stiffs. Only Larry Holmes after losing to Tyson and being out of boxing for 3 years, had only 6 fights on his comeback trail before his title fight with Holyfield. The greatest Ali only had 2 fights before taking on Frazier after his comeback and it took him 17 fights counting the Frazier fight to win his title back against Foreman. Give Fury his props.
