Bigger more hyped fights than Wilder/Fury 2.

    Holyfield Bowe 1 and 2
    Holyfield Tyson 2
    Tyson Spinks
    Tyson Holmes

Just off the top of my head.

I'd say it's the biggest since Tyson/Lewis. If not, then Tyson/Holyfield.

The only person saying that is Arum, and I don’t blame him. He is trying to sell the fight. I kinda agree with him in regards to Lewis/Tyson. That fight was mega hyped but the timing of that fight was dead IMHO, it happened years too late. This fight is between two undefeated HW.

Biggest heavyweight fight in the social media era.

Ofcourse wilder vs joshua would have been bigger if it’s the one getting made right now.

I remember the week of Holyfield Bowe 2 ESPN was nearly 24/7.
Plus the fight lived up to the hype.

Klitschko vs AJ was far bigger then this so much they were able to air it twice live and on HBO rebroadcast which did huge numbers still to cater to the time zone differences ,that fight was a huge globally .This is a good fight but it’s not AJ vs Wlad was ,I think that was the best modern day fight we got.

Of course they have to build it and try to make it bigger then it is. If it’s exciting one then maybe a third fight will be a bit closer to what they wish it to be .

taking place in Memphis also hurt IMO.

Great point. I never understood why it took place in that arena. If it’s going to happen in america then Vegas or New York should be the choices.

Bit hard to judge for me at the moment, could be wrong but I get the feeling the wait between fights hasn't helped, no press tour, the lack of Fury smack talk and Wilder till dis day meme material has all combined to cool the casual interest somewhat.

Personally I can't wait and people at the gym are talking about it but I'm just not sensing as much buzz with civilians, the turnout at the bar will be a good comparison against the first at least, this is Australia so no idea how that translates across markets. Definitely doesn't feel like a 2M PPV buys type of event at this point.

I could be wrong but I think It took place In Memphis because it was one of the few places that still allowed Tyson to fight after the ear biting incident and he bit Lewis leg in the press conference scuffle that didn’t help either.
