Why did Frank Bruno have such poor stamina?

He was actually a very decent heavyweight. A few high profile fights he was winning on the score cards, only to run out of gas in the late rounds.

Anyone know the reason for the limited stamina and how come his trainer did nothing about it?

Just look at his build. Plus he always seemed to be quite tense during fights both mentally and physically. Good fighter overall though.

Well for starters any professional boxer has pretty insane stamina, anyone that's been anywhere near a ring will tell you that, but as you go up in level that requirement becomes a bit greater. You are also born with a natural ceiling so not all fighters will have world class stamina, even if they maybe a world class fighter overall.

You do get fighters who cut corners that are not necessarily maxing that ceiling out, or cut too much weight. I dont see Bruno in that category, he was in great shape so he probably just lacked a bit in that department.

Dude, I was thinking of Francois Botha. That’s what I read it as, registered it as, and reacted to. I got to stop skimming stuff in the morning.

It was only when he took the body building too far, did his stamina suffer 'Apart from that? Go and watch his fights vs Tim Weatherspoon, Lennox Lewis & Bone Crusher Smith 'Those fights where fought at a high intensity'.

The Bruno that fought Lennox Lewis for me was in his best condition, all of his attributes where balanced 'He had too much non-functional muscle mass up against Oliver Mccall & Mike Tyson II'

So overall I don't really think Bruno had atrocious stamina.

Yeah, I did that the other day with Ruiz and Ortiz. Don't beat yourself up over it.

Bad posture and poor kinematic chains sap energy.
