Douglas had all the intangibles to get a huge upset and Tyson had just enough asterisks to lose.
That night was meant to happen

I believe the rules state “the referee determines when to start and stop a count”. A count is not timed it is counted by the referee.
Was there a mix up between referee and timekeeper? Yes, but the timekeepers count is largely irrelevant, it’s the referee’s count which is final.
Octavio Meyran obviously felt Douglas was good to continue on 9, whilst Tyson was evidently done and . Didn’t Tyson’s count actually last around 14 seconds as well? So there was obviously consistency.
Douglas got up in that 8th round an went on to win that fight. I don’t think the count should take anything away from that.

Douglas was fine after his knockdown. He smacked the ground in frustration then got up. His eyes were clear and the ref let the fight continue.
Tyson on the other hand was knocked silly, wobbled, and couldn't get his mouth piece in by the time the ref hit the 10 count.
As others have said, Douglas won fair and square. Stop with the excuses.

I'm simply stating that Douglass was on the ground for 13-15 seconds which could've easily constituted a 10 second knockout. That's it.
Have a great day
