  • I just showed TS 2 PBC fighters (Benavidez/Plant) that produced 750k PPVs

I'm sure that's because of Oscar De La Hoya

        No.

I’m trying to get names of stars that PBC has created that don’t have ties to Golden Boy. Can you name any or not?

According to Boxingscene, Benavidez vs Plant did around 750k PPVs. Has Golovkin done anything close to that outside Canelo?

Wouldn't that make David a bigger star than GGG?
Sh1t, those numbers make Benavidez a bigger star than Tank Davis without Ryan Garcia.

He might qualify as a star already. Although there will be the question of how much those numbers were due to Caleb Plant and the name recognition he got from facing Canelo and the white audience.

There you have it. Benavidez is a star because of what DLH did with Canelo

            Troll thread

              Not at all.

If people want to name David Benavidez as an answer to the question then I’ll accept it.

              So…Tank Davis and Benavidez.

              Is that it? Anyone else?

              • Golden Boy Promotions never built any of Al Haymon fighters. All of those fighters who fought under the Golden Boy Promotions banner were all legally signed to Al Haymon; Not Oscar De La Hoya thanks to Richard Schaeffer.

Haymon only used Oscar's promotional outfit "Golden Boy Promotions" as a means to help launch his own fighter's careers Like: Gervonta "Tank Davis" Gary Russell Jr, The Charlo boys, Danny Garcia, Keith Thurman, Adrien Broner, Errol Spence, Jr, Deontay Wilder, Leo Santa Cruz, Shawn Porter and many more.

That’s provably false (Wilder won the WBC heavyweight belt while with Golden Boy for example) but that’s not the question I asked.

Can you name PBC fighters, that qualify as stars, who have ZERO connections to Golden Boy?

So far it’s Tank Davis and maybe David Benavidez.

                  • Moral lesson even now is if you're a boxer who wants to be a star, start with TR or GBP. Then when you become one, sign with any promoter you want or become semi-free agent or something. Ryan Garcia became one instantly just by being with GBP, as one example. And look at Berlanga, what did he do to deserve such prominence other than being associated with TR?
