You really think Porter hasn't tried to develop punching power as much as he trains?
Bradley and Porter slap with their punches and rarely sit down on single shots. I still think they'd be average punchers if they fixed that however.

It would explain why you can have a guy like Tyson shorter and heaily muscled and a tall lanky guy like Hearns still deliver such devastating shots.

Couldn't powder puff punchers if they were taught to use their body mechanics differently be taught to deliver punches with alot more effectiveness if they unlearn what they know and relearn a different way to better suit them?
power can be cultivated and improved to a certain level but punchers are born. Much of it is based off body composition, weight distribution how a person naturally torques into shots, arm length bone density, shoulders, legs, forearms etc.

also great timing improves with speed improves sharpness and snap of punches.

          Correct.

Punchers are like 100m sprinters, Sprint Swimmers or cyclist etc

These type of athletes have gifts that they are fundamentally born with.

To a certain extent a boxer can improve his punching power, but they are not suddenly going to be on the level of Mike Tyson after afew months of training.

Note: With today's technology and sports science, IF the notion being debated in this thread is correct? Every single boxer REALLY has no excuse 'They should all be big punchers'. But the notion is not correct, PUNCHERS cannot be made etc

I think Bradley's power became respectable in the later part of his career.

He always punched hard to the body because it forces you to sit down on punches.

It can be taught to a certain extent but some of it is natural. Nobody is born knowing how to deliver perfect punches. They must be shown how. Then they practice and improve their punches. Someone could be taught to throw a straight right about like Hearns throw it but they could never throw it with the same hand speed Hearns was gifted with naturally so the punch would never be as powerful as Hearns's punch. Speed plus body weight behind the punch equals a hard punch. All the punches with either hand, jabs, hooks and uppercuts have a proper way of being thrown for maximum power. Nobody is just born throwing all the different punches perfectly. They must be taught and then they must practice and try to prefect each punch.
