In other words Moretti couldn’t tell the difference in his own criteria when he would score Floyd and Canelo fights? Moretti scored 4 rounds to Canelo against Floyd. There’s this lazy idea that elite fighters can’t have swing rounds? If you’re saying Moretti was wrong scoring 4 rounds for Canelo the same as possibly he was wrong scoring 7-5 for GGG over Canelo 1? Maybe Moretti should’ve had 6-6, it would’ve still been a Majority Draw. Then if you say, “well well Byrd doe...” did Byrd score against Canelo with Khan? Floyd deserved FOTD hands down imho for the decade of 2000s but thats why I likewise find it insane Floyd won this decade over a fighter with like 4-5x the top wins this decade.

I likely won't consider Canelo FOTD for the upcoming decade because of the same reason I don't consider Floyd this decade.(he likely to retire & the younger top dogs might do more) I completely get it why many feel Floyd is owed a FOTD from last decade he was robbed,but thats why the BWAA is a bogus award,it has no set in stone criteria & the goalposts are moved daily by the same writers voting in it

(I've been saying this the entire decade that passed) The writers who vote for this award consider themselves boxing historians yet they behave like biased fanbois at every opportunity when it comes to fighters they don't like usurping others they Do like.

Theres no qualifications to be in the bwaa besides paying a fee,it means nothing. You don't have to actually have laced up a pair (& most the most prominent like fat Dan haven't,& many of those with tons of experience still act like fanbois or shill for their Network/promotions home fighter/s.)

Cliff is ignoring key facts. Cotto was never going to fight GGG and neither was Sergio. Sergio was pretty much done before he fought Cotto. His legs were long gone.

Also, Canelo for a while refused to entertain a fight with GGG. He even dumped a belt to avoid him. Even more important, I am yet to meet anyone who thinks Canelo won the first fight. But all that can be debatable I suppose.

My thing is that Cliff has the audacity to rank Canelo above Floyd!!! That’s sacrilege right there!
Canelo got beat by Floyd, arguably got beat by Lara and GGG. Lastly, Cotto gave Canelo a good fight and some observers had the fight a draw.

I think the way to look at these threads is just a reminder of some of the accomplishments that we may have forgotten over the course of the decade.. Cliff's been on himself and said as much. He wasn't trying to come up with some comprehensive ranking system to settle once and for all who's ranked where for the 2010s, just taking the results of high level fights and fighters, assigning some consistent, if kinda arbitrary numerical values and seeing what came out. Just for a interest's sake, a bit of food for thought, and certainly nothing to get hung up over any more than you'd get hung up on the Boxrec rankings.

No mathematical method is gonna give you results that are in line with most people's views, but equally no opinion based system is gonna give you a ranking that's free of all kinds of bias... you just gotta accept and understand the limitations of any system and make allowances for it.

I am really trying to be cool on here but some of these kids beg for it. There is only so much patience.

We both may just want to be gracious for every breath and talk boxing peacefully and in a semi-articulate way.

That guy thinks that by defending Cliff somehow I’m employed by NSB or Hearn. All my posts were a mock of his. I mention postcards with Canelo on it with a Hearn signature and someone gets spooked like it’s WW3. Postcards doe. Some guys don’t get a clue too. I haven’t even checked. Was Cotto older than Kovalev when Canelo fought them? It looked like Canelo carried Cotto out of respect because Canelo knew Cotto really couldn’t dent his armor...I thought Cotto looked like a technician with great footwork and offense against Canelo, but Canelo responded in what looked like effortless masterclass countering.

Been following Canelo since Gabriel Martinez. His fundamentals and head movement were showing back then in sequential evasiveness that had some exact defensive mimics like when he fought Jacobs. That was when Canelo was 17. That same year he had a growth spurt in height when he fought Larry Mosley. He grew like an inch and a half maybe two.

His physique has always been the same, strong neck, like his brothers and the Alvarez pedigree. Though I’d say Canelo learned some styles from Larios. Larios been in their corner since. People just didn’t like a short 154lbs able to drain water yet the PBc kids love that Hurd, Jermall, or Jacobs would... typical thing from some boxing fans whom don’t like Mexicans... #LDBC #Filipinos #Puerto Rican #Land Of The Rose
