Wilder had held a belt for 5 years. Regardless of competition, he is a lock already for the hall of fame. And that drives Matchroom interns nuts. Rid**** bowe is in and his 2 defenses were vs a washed up fat Micheal Dokes and Jesse friggin Ferguson! Beating Fury - certainly not a guarantee - will cement his status. Maybe Dillian Whyte can work as an usher or janitor for the celebration

Golota isn't even better than Kownacki, euro & international fighters are much better these days. Watch LL vs 215lb Mavrovic, essentially the size of a cruiser, he was eating LLs power shots & even managed to hurt him & no Mavrovic isn't on the level of a Usyk who is the same size. His level of opposition is too weak to fully gauge his punching power. I'm not even sure that he hits as hard as Lennox Lewis. Go back and watch Lennox Lewis fight Andrew golota or Shannon Briggs. I don't think Wilder would have got those guys out of there like Lennox Lewis did.
He also hasn't fought anyone tough with a great chin. There's not an Oliver McCall or a David tua or a ray Mercer around for him to fight. Lennox fought all three of those guys.
There was a similar myth around Edwin Valero. Because he had 20 first round knockouts. Valero was a pretty good fighter. But when he stepped up and fought Antonio DeMarco who is probably the best opponent he had fought at that time. He did not look like a devastating one punch knockout puncher. Now watch Adrien Broner against Antonio DeMarco and tell me who hits harder Broner or Edwin Valero? You see what I mean about competition level.
Regarding great chins, they exist everywhere, the issue is guys like Wilder have made them look like nothing. He'd do the same thing to Tua & McCall that he's done to everybody else.Comment

Regardless of opposition, we can all see Wilders power is different then everyone else in boxing. Best puncher ever? Who is really to say? But IMO he is in the discussion no doubt about it.
I still had Fury winning the first fightComment

Umm no we’re not ******. A good way of judging fighters power is by listening to fighter who have sparred them. They all same the same thing- wilder is the hardest puncher they’ve ever been in with. There’s a really good interview with a guy who supposedly dropped AJ in sparring. He’s from Philadelphia I believe. He rated wilders power 10/10 above Klitschko (who he also had sparred) and significantly harder than Joshua.
There’s no knowing for certain but he’s definitely up there for sureComment

It took Vitali 300 total punches (150 power shots) to stop Arreola, no knockdowns.
Stiverne 87 total punches & 68 power punches to stop him with the hardest shot Arreola has been knocked down with until that point.
Wilder even stopped Arreola with a torn bicep & broken hand earlier than Vitali, multiple knockdowns.Comment

We can only ask common opponents how hard wilder hits.Ask arelo if wilder hits as hard as vitali? Ask wlad if wilder hits as hard as sanders?Comment

Level of competition is very relevant. I don’t see any of Wilders opponents rising to top ten contender status in the Ali era. They’d all be stopped brutally back then as well by one of several punchers who were on top at the time.Comment
