Tonight would good night for HBO boxing

It was another blow for boxing when they stopped.

Lampley, Harold Lederman, Big George, Larry vodka breath Merchant, Gil Clancey and Emanuel Stewart, and all boxing stars.

    Miss those night.

There was a card on ESPN+ earlier today and now there's one on FS1. There was one on Showtime last night and one on DAZN the night before.

Four cards on four networks in a three day span ain't a bad weekend.

You’re looking at it too fondly. HBO boxing was awful for the last few years. The production was still great and the staff was knowledgeable but the fights were crap and they were forced to tow the party line.

In the 80s and 90s back then normally if it was on HBO it was a big fight. Now days anybody can fight on tv.

Yeah, I think the consistency in production value and staff in that last stretch kind of sold the idea to some less discerning that it was like the glory days right up to the end. I do think their whole aesthetic was about as perfect as you can get though.

I disagree. Hbo went in a bad direction once they started doing network exclusive deals.

Those guys always talked up whoever hbo wanted to win. When hbo was just putting on fights and the announcers weren’t partisan homers it was great.

Spot on. The only upside to HBO folding up their boxing program is not having to listen to that cheerleading coggsukkcer Lampley. The worst boxing announcer of all time.
