Gervonta Davis vs Yuriorkis Gamboa Sells 11k Tickets, 2.6M Gate

    Sold - 11,824
    Comp - 1,351
    Gate - $2,587,250

Pretty damn impressive. Now, doing great gate numbers doesn't automatically mean you will do good PPV numbers, but I can see why he is heading that direction in May.

Tank has flaws but he has proven to be able to put asses in seats. If he could communicate more clearly he might be doing even better numbers IMO. No reason PBC doesn't have him headlining 3 cards per year against progressively better competition.

Hopefully, he will take his career more seriously, keep his weight down in between fights, master his craft, and work hard to become the next great American prize fighter.

It's on him how far he goes. The fact he moves up and misses weight originally shows how undisciplined he is. Dude is obviously a legit draw and one of the best ticket sellers in America. But that's not going to matter if he doesn't take his craft serious and ends up losing these big fights.

Totally agree. Hopefully he doesn't end up wasting his talent and potential.

theres a reason they chose gamboa aside from him being "old and shot"...gamboas name rings bells even with casuals...and it was a well planned event around a college playoff game

People are taking this weight thing way top seriously.

            He's only 25. He's still a kid.

He will act accordingly when he becomes older, but as of now, he's still very young.

No, the folks at the fight weren't there because of Gamboa. Davis could have fought you and did these numbers. He clearly hits in that market and that area. Heck, he's shown he can sell tickets in any coast pretty much.

When he's older? By then it will be too late. This is his prime and he needs to take advantage of it. Guys his size with his height don't usually last all that long. Davis is talented, but he trained like sh^t last fight and it showed. By the second half of the fight, he could barely throw 20 punches a round since he was so tired. Dude needs to get it together.
