I really enjoyed the recent thread started by The*******Dayz (about chins) and all of the well-thought out answers.
I started thinking about what makes a great chin that can withstand ferocious punishment. I was thinking how a lot of these guys had really ugly mugs and square shaped heads that looked like leathery wooden blocks on top of wide, sturdy necks.
I work at a facility for the criminally insane, and I know a guard who looks this way (giant square head, etc ... similar to McCall) and he took several brutal haymakers to the head of his head from a violent patient and didn’t go to the floor. Wrapped him up so he couldn’t throw anymore. Didn’t even have a mild concussion.
On the flip side. Amir Khan and other glass jaws often have that long, narrow “prettyboy” face. Less neck mass. Not as leathery and ugly. Look more like they could model for a JC Penney suit catalog.
Which gets me to believe that you can tell a lot about a fighter’s chin from the way his head, neck, and face looks.
Agree or disagree?
