Hurd is one of those fighters that is best trying to implement his size and fight balls to the wall. He's nowhere near a good enough boxer to beat most of the better fighters in this division on skill, but fighting like I said, he will always cause a lot of problems, whilst being entertaining to watch, unlike last night.

Thank you! Don't get me wrong, Lara lost fair and square a close fight but I don't think he gets enough "credit" for laying the blueprint for J-Rock.

Hurd wasn't really looking for the KO until later in the fight; this was a glorified sparring session. Hurd was trying to work on defense and movement. I was more concerned when he fought Wellborn and got caught with a lot of shots until he decided to stop him.
I hear you but he kind of reverted to his "old" pressure style about midway through the fight and still couldn't get a knockdown until the 12th. I think another "soft touch" is in order to work on his "new" style.

How do you miss 214 jabs to a guy that doesn't move his head much?

Hurd fought decent but he need to utilized holding more when someone gets on the inside. You can't teach a old dog new tricks but I think Kay Koroma is a good trainer but he need to another stay busy fight with someone like Liam Smith or Ocampo. You need more than 1 fight to change your fight style.

I don't disagree with this. I'm not even sure he's better off as boxer. He said he wanted to change his style to extend the shelf life of his career but I'm not sure it gives him the best chance to win.

My humble and unqualified opinion is that he needs to keep the pressure style but improve his jab and footwork. Maybe steal some of those James Toney upper body movements he was working on. He has a good chin and a good motor. He doesn't have one punch KO, his stoppage victories often come from the mental and physical pressure as much as the punches.

Hurd sucks. If this is his new style, he’ll suck harder.

With a guy like Hurd, offense should be his defense. He tries to get out of character and he will get that ass beat again.

He needs to impose himself in order to win.

This weight bully is very average without a size advantage. Thus, no way he's moving up. Who is he going to beat at Middleweight? Maybe Rob Brant?

I totally agree. Though, in the trenches, Hurd's looks like he has power, his latest fight has convinced me that Hurd KOs are based off accumulation. It basically took 5 rounds of pressure to finally knock down 147lbs "Chia" Santana. That being said, I can still see Hurd becoming a champion at 154lbs

Who do you have in a Rosario vs Hurd fight?
Rosario really impressed me. To me, his win against J-Rock was more about his boxing abilities (especially the counter punching) than his size.
