Off the top of my head I only recall his two fights with Frampton and one with Mares that I would consider stiff challenges; every other match up has been unremarkable (which is why no other fight comes to mind). He's an example of contemporary boxers who are satisfied getting the large paydays against opponents who pose minimum risk. Avoiding Russell Jr and Rigondeaux was not unplanned.
On paper Santa Cruz should be a must watch, high volume puncher but for some reason his fights lately are lacking that X factor, that attention grabbing I must watch factor. Its at the point where I don't care that Santa Cruz fights the Miguel Flores or Rafael Rivera or Chris Avalos of the world, he needs a good named dance partner like Davis or Russell.
