BWAA...in 2020 is made up of a lot of glorified bloggers with their own inherent bias. There are very few "writers" for this sport, only paid paid shills who have very tribal biases towards their favorite fighters or promoters. Many of whom have agendas. Let's face it, this was more of an honorary award, like a life time achievement award that they give at the Academy Awards.

If you include the McG fight, then 8 fights from 2010-2017. That's
7 years.
The award is for fighter of the DECADE, which is 10 years.
His resume is what it is, but my argument is him only "fighting" techinically 4 years out of the decade because he took almost 3 years off in that span.
Can you count?

If 2 fights in basically 4.5 years earns you a fighter of the DECADE, then damn the bar is low! Throw in the fact that the Pac fight was 3-5 years too late and I cant see him being awarded this honor. But, to each their own.
Put it this way, you can win MVP of a league and not play every game, right?

But for sure I won't talk about Floyd in future if I can help it and certainly I won't post more than one post in a thread if at all possible.
I will be respectful to fotd and give praise now.

Originally posted by GhostofDempsey View PostThat's a good point, I won't argue that. But, I think you'd have to go back and ask that decade of BWAA members what their primary criteria was when awarding Manny FOTD. Of course that doesn't negate or reveal the bias for either fighter.
Floyd also was in the highest grossing fight ever (up to that point) and had some other big wins.
