Hatton is not just "slugging" when he fights. It's the multi-faceted pressure that can wilt A-plus boxers at the seams. It's the punching from all angles (legal or illegal ), the deceptive speed, the crowding, the roughhousing. Please don't tell me that a boxer > slugger because there have been plenty of cases where the "slugger" has beaten the boxer.

    Mcguigan > Pedrosa
    Duran > Leonard
Leonard > Hearns 1 (he slugged to pull out the win)
    Frazier > Ali

Against Collazo he didn't carry the extra weight very well. He was flat footed and slow compared to how I'm used to seeing him.
I have seen him earlier... I think you are referring to a performance like against Ben Tackie. But we can stop arguing this point. My new question is what indication is there that Hatton will turn back the clocks and fight like he did earlier?

Oh I do understand, but don't you think Floyd is more like SRL here? He is the fast puncher with effective pressure who gets in and out. Hatton is more like Hagler to me than Leonard.

I'm not sure but I hope so. I think he needs to get a little more active given the way he blows up in between fights and he should cut back on the weights.

There were mitigating circumstances in his last 2 fights. He was being sued by Warren at the time of he Maussa fight and said himself that his strategy was to KO him in 4 which lead to him loading up too much. Nice finish though.

Everything about the Collazo fight was wrong for him in retrospect. He should have eased into the weight first.

You know its funny, I have been using the Collazo fight as a reason why Hatton will lose, but it actually made me respect him a lot more. No the performance was less than impressive, but look at how Floyd moved up. He fought a shot Mitchell that was moving up from 140 also. Hatton immediately took on a champ and on top of that a guy that has a tough style to master. I respect that regardless of the outcome.

As a Hatton fan I'd like to say that it was all balls but I've got a sneaking su****ion that the Hatton camp went into the fight a litle blind. I don't think he expected it to be that tough.

Really...hmmm I never knew that. So they thought he would walk over Collazo... must not have seen Collazo fight then. If you watch him it is pretty obvious that his style is hard to figure out.

I think most people did. Hatton had some problems with southpaw Magee but he still won the fight decisively so he had no real reason to fear Collazo. I watched a couple of Collazo fights after the fight was signed and thought it would be an entertaining fight but a fairly straightforward win for Hatton. But then again I wasn't expecting such a poor version of Hatton, I've never seen him that tired in a fight. I think you have to give credit to Collazo though, he fought well.
