nah you just got to take it for what it is, you can't really make a direct comparison to the men's sport. It is ridiculously shallow at the higher weights and hardly deep even in the lower classes, but it's still in it's infancy - at least as far as official sanctioning goes, and should grow, especially if it gets the kind of publicity it did last night (even though that was a farcical mismatch from the start).

Only thing I would disagree with you is that to my eye el Tigre ain't the only woman that fights like a man. Braekhus fights like a man to my eye, moves much more like a male fighter than most women, but like a male boxer rather than a puncher - precision over power.

Ain't seen enough of Jimenez to make a judgement but I guess we'll have a good look tonight and I'll try to do a little research first.
... I was only addressing the divisions from 154 up...

... Braekhus fights at 147 (where Shields will never be able to fight as a "sane person"... 'La Tigre' fights at 168 tonight...

Oh, I see, as a potential opponent for Shields you mean? Yeah in that case its pretty much just El Tigre and Savannah Marshall if her power stays as she steps up her level of competion.

Still looking at how Crews Dezurn does tonight though, I think she's improved vastly since she debuted with Shields back in '16 (and I think she's a really cool lady too).

... In fact, I was saying that Alejandra 'La Tigre' Jimenez would badly dispatch Claressa at 168, and even at 160 (if necessary)...

(and just remember that Shields very recently said that she's "the best at 175"!...

Goddamn. El Tigre was weighing at 236lbs back in '17? Thought I was looking at a typo for a minute.

The lower weight suits her I think, at the very least it's probably healthier, although we've yet to see if her power will carry down aginst a good opponent.

Ha ha she bears a passing resemblance to the mother of my oldest there, she liked a scrap too, FWIW.

.. OK, she even was a heavyweight champion back then...

... but in 2018, she stopped Vindiola at 168... and in 2019, she beat Irais Hernandez also at 168...

Later edit: Claressa won no less than two 168 belts, back in 2017, right?...

Why didn’t she pound away at the body after round 6. What happened, she could have stopped her. She went mostly to the head. Her opponent had no power and was smothering her own shots with the distance. Meanwhile Laila Ali was 24-0 with 21 knockouts. Shields talks like a killer but doesn’t have killer shots. She doesn’t stop anybody. As a matter of fact, Shields last stop was back in August 2017. She isn’t a killer and she really benefits from having NO real competition in woman’s boxing.
i think adding 3 min rounds will get her more KOs 2 min rounds are pointless

Three of the opponents Shields didn't stop have been stopped by other fighters, including Habazin. Mikaela Lauren stopped her in 3 rounds in a 154 pound title fight 3 years ago. Hammer got KTFO by Anne Sophie Mathis, Hanna Gabriel got stopped by Oxandia Castillo.

I agree they should go to three minute rounds, but whether they do or not, Shields just isn't a heavy hitter.

Habazin is a natural 147 pounder fighting a natural 168 pounder and Shields couldn't stop her.

yeah and power isnt a MUST to be a good fighter, not everyone is a KO artist but i guess if thats what u want to complain about then cool
