Comments Thread For: Robles Not Sure if Andy Ruiz is Replacing Him, Waits For Word

Veteran trainer Manny Robles has no idea if he's being replaced by former unified heavyweight world champion Andy Ruiz. Last month, Ruiz was more or less dominated over twelve rounds in his rematch with Anthony Joshua in Saudi Arabia. After that loss, Ruiz admitted that he partied and didn't train for two months in the aftermath of his shocking stoppage of Joshua in June.

Waiting for Ruiz to stop shoveling Snickers bars into his face long enough to spit out a word

All the excuses and reminders that he didn’t try as hard are getting a bit embarrassing. The result would have been the same either way. The first fight should have been exactly like the rematch.

It's kind of ironic that, after all the pre-fight shit talk about AJ's supposed mental weakness, it ended up being Ruiz who blew his chances because he was too mentally weak to cope with the pressure of fame and his own gluttony.

Robles did a GREAT job. It’s not his fault butterbean couldn’t stop eating long enough to even train.
