I mean, every nominee of best fight of the year are top5 vs top5 Boxers.

Gennady Golovkin UD 12 Sergiy Derevyanchenko
Naoya Inoue UD 12 Nonito Donaire
Manny Pacquiao SD 12 Keith Thurman
Errol Spence SD 12 Shawn Porter
Josh Taylor MD 12 Regis Prograis
Don't get me wrong, top guys usually perform as such. But we expect ''more''. Each few years our patience grow thinner with top guys not fighting each other.

Every time one of the alphabets (like the WBC) creates another belt or title, it devalues the concept of a "World Champion".
If the United States currency was anything like boxing, the dollar would be worth about 10 cents.

Let's not leave out Silver. ''Peoples'' champ has more cred.

Yeah but then again, it’s partially due to Floyd. Floyd sort of ruined the sport of boxing.

Boxing will always have critics myself included but its not the oldest sport for no reason and it ain’t going anywhere.
Well said. Wrestling, kicking, choking, rolling on the ground, has been around since probably the first fight in history. It’s not a revelation. There’s a reason why it evolved into “boxing”. It’s not like kicking a guy on the ground is even legal in the ufc. There’s things fans like to see the most and things they don’t. I’m sure there’s a lot of doormen and ex-doorman on this site, plus club/pub/bar goers. With a hundred people watching a fight on the street, we all know how everyone boos when one guy tries to tackle another guy, or even kicks. Standing toe to toe and trading punches is what society has desired the most so far. Ask ur gfs. Nothing pays better.

But sometimes you get fighters like Tyson Fury and even Anthony Joshua who want to fight the best that sidestep the money men.Hence Fury got the first Wilder fight on pretty quick because in his words he wanted it and "if 2 fighters want to fight they will". You have to give some credit to Wilder as well for that even if he did fight a Fury that wasnt 100%.Likewise with Joshua he's potentially given up one of his belts to fight the winner of Fury/Wilder which all fans truly want to see.

This is why we see so many over-hyped opponents being marketed to the fans as legitimate threats or formidable opponents, .
But a true boxer will always want fame and glory and wants to fight the best and isnt afraid of loosing and is honourable in defeat. Badou Jack I think is just one type of boxer that characterises this . I hope we see more characters with this type of mindset as ultimately its the boxers that can force the agenda if they really want it (hence read my reply to another post above yours) not the business men .

Boxing is a Business that masquerades as a sport. It’s about Power / $ / Popularity

Most sports are played on a level playing field where rules set in place to determine a clear Winner & Loser ,Boxing is subjective , Results are often decided based on a Fighters Popularity or Who they’re signed with , not what happens in the Ring.

Promoters / Advisers almost always determine a fighters plateau, From 126 - HW with Josh Taylor signing with TR the only straps Not in possession of ( PBC , Top Rank , Golden Boy , Matchroom , Warren ) I’m pretty sure are the Cruiser Weights.

Only in Boxing does Talent not play the biggest factor of a athletes Success. Avg Fighters who are popular and have the right team behind them ( Chavez Jr) can earn World Titles , Receive Unlimited Opportunities , Fight the Biggest Names all because of Popularity and $ they can generate not because of the Talent the possess.

On the flip side only in Boxing can a fighter who isn’t popular or have a good team be seen as too talented ( Andrade / Rigo / Golovkin to name a few) and end up hurting their career and finding only limited success or having to wait until the twilight of their career to get a fraction of the opportunity Chavez receives , the Risk they present without the $ they can bring in . fighters can easily avoid and not fight them with little resistance from fans /media.Even if they get a strap Sanctioning Organizations can take it from them for the smallest infractions

Imagine if the NBA pulled these stunts and wouldn’t let Milwaukee Bucks in the playoffs because they’re small market and LA & LeBron might not win a championship if They faced the Bucks in the Final and more people will watch and more $ if it’s the Celtics
