Luis Ortiz And How He Became One of Boxing’s Current ATG”s

I found out many things from recent posts and how one individual actually changed the way one is propelled into a category known as a hall of famer ,of course with backwards logic, so ?

First let’s see what or where Ortiz got this super human status with his best win .

His best win was way back in 2015 to a guy coming off a loss Bryant Jennings , who was 20 and 1 ,of course according to the Wilder club he peaked at this time then declined because we know fighters peak at 20 ?

What made Jennings the beast in 2015 and only 2015 ? Well Ortiz of course ,after that he was declining fast ! Ha

Jennings would go on to defeat the great Dan Martz ,that’s right the same Martz who Ortiz fought before Wilder so he’s got to be good or is he ? Well go check out some of his fights .

Jennings had a stellar career losing to Joyce and Rivas , his best win is also controversial to Mike Perez ,it’s no wonder Ortiz will be an ATG who else can have such a win ?

Ortiz has been on a killing ,he first stepped up with Monte Barrett off a two year absence and off a loss in 2013 ,you heard right Monte Barrett is where the greatness started .

From there he went on a total tear and went through guys like Latiff Kayode ,of course pulled back after failing drug test, so let’s start over.......

He went on a tear going through Byron Polly ,

    Ariel Voldono ,

Thompson Coming off a loss ,

Scott and Allen coming off a loss , and of course Martz . I mean this guys a legend right here ,no wonder all others get mocked .

He would of course fight Wilder in 2018 ,a good 3 years after he was actually showing peak performances against the mentioned killers .

So there you have it , a brief interlude to a resume very few will ever achieve and why no one ,I mean no one compares to boogeymen like Ortiz ,round of applause everyone he’s literally changed how boxers get propelled to legendary status on a forum like this.

No wonder you Wilder crew come at me hard with discrediting guys like Whyte and Povetkin, what was I thinking ? Ha

Dont forget his highly over rated amateur career too . Iam not a wilder hater but I find ortiz over rated although hes a solid fighter , hes not the beast everyone makes him out to be . Will be interesting to see if they get him a tough matchup in his next fight . They should fight parker , ruiz , or whyte type fight . The guys on their level . What are they waiting for ??

If you go to his record ,rarely did Ortiz fight anyone with more then a two fight win streak ,yet the crazies on here want to talk how Povetkin is the bum ? Pure madness only generated by the Wilder fan club .

I agree . I think povetkin and ortiz would be a good fight right now . I think it's a close fight , however comparing records it isnt even close . Povetkin by a landslide

Ortiz passes the eyeball test but he hasnt really boxed anyone of note ....I mean not to discredit wilder as a fighter , just a boxer . I watched gerald Washington outbox of him( and get stretched just like ortiz ) so before all the wilder huggers come at me iam simply stating wilder isnt a master boxer, hes a good fighter with atg power . But outboxing him really isnt much a feat unless u dont get caught and stopped is what I mean . The jennings win is a good one for ortiz but it Is 4 years ago and in hindsight jennings is a decent fighter but that's not really a win to justify a killer . I picked ortiz by tko to the round in that one . Jennings is a sucker for the uppercut . Until I see ortiz boxing with a say tyson fury and easily holding his own , I cant really toot his horn that much . Hes simply a technically sound boxer with good power , who really hasnt beaten anyone of note to make any logical thinker hes gonna win a belt or is infact a boogeyman .ortiz Is getting old. Put him in a real fight in his next fight or have him retire . I would love to see him fight anyone in the top 10 . Then we can answer his eyeball test 100.

I started the thread as a semi joke because of the trolls on here but what I found was a terrible resume more then I thought he had and looking at the opponents records there’s simply no way this guy should be mentioned with a Whyte or Povetkin ,who both crush him in accomplishments. Povetkin and Ortiz share Hammer as a common opponent, one can see who struggled more, Povetkin is more proven .

This is the sad state of boxing. Yeah, Ortiz is a straight up killer, despite beating nobody worth mentioning. It's truly pathetic.

I’d say boxing’s in a very good state ,Ortiz however doesn’t make up the division unless you are a Wilder fan , I can list 10 guys I favor easy over him based on recent fights that show major holes .

I agree, aside from Joshua and Ruiz I doubt he would now beat anyone in the top 8.
