What does it even matter? Even If it did Mayweather remained undefeated and Pacquiao been KTFO, and lost to Jeff Horn.
If we're talking about over the course of a decade then Pac beating Thurman doesn't just wipe his slate clean.
Either way both are great fighters but Floyd walked away with what ultimately matters, damn near 700 million dollars...
Guys shouldn't really be boxing past 40 years old.Comment

Ok enough of this nonsense, Floyd has elevated boxing in this decade to unprecedented levels(particularly this decade). Fighters are largely getting their equitable monetary share from promoters(sustaining themselves even beyond retirement),, Floyd responsible for that,,By fighting UFC Mcgregor he attracted UFC fans to the boxing platform - no one can deny that this fight elevated boxing's stature as a fighting sport at a critical time when rumours circulated that UFC was a better alternative - Mayweather winning the fight entrenched Boxing's longetivity to those fans with an affinity for contact sport. OK BACK TO BOXING - Manny & Canelo will probably at a point in time be listed in the top 10-20 best fighters of all time. u know what, Floyd beat both - until either fighter reverses the loss, Floyd surpasses both in ratings; lest we make a mockery of boxing. As regard the quality of opposition each fighter has faced, very little separates floyd, manny & canelo - arguments to this effect will be debated for decades to come, but fundamentaly all are within the mix of the greatest fighters of all time, shout out to Andre Ward one of the best ever, although I feel 2 or 3 more fights against the best out there could have elevated him to one of the greatest of all time. FighterOfTheDecade = FLOYD MAYWEATHER JR.Comment

It's what nel o did in 7 years after that loss that made nel o, and more than makes up for flouyds win over the mere mortal nel o which Floyd beat.
Are people implying there is nothing nel o could do after that loss to Floyd to make up for that loss?.That's not normal or rational thinking! Nel o might as well have retired after losing to Floyd then if that's the case.Last edited by hugh grant; 01-09-2020, 10:14 AM.Comment

It's amazing Pacquiao is even in the conversation really. What a great comeback from a huge KO loss, and just overall great work this decade. But, I prefer Mayweather this time around.
I think it says something when one of the candidates for FOTD beat the other two frontrunners lol. That has to mean something. You can nitpick about the timing, but it isn't common for HOF/ATG fighters to face each other in their respective primes. Not to mention, Mayweather was no spring chicken in either of those fights.
Also, when Mayweather returned from his brief retirement he laid out several fighters he would face in his comeback run. He was told he'd never go through all of them. And then he did.
I'd pick Pacman well before Canelo though.Last edited by BrometheusBob.; 01-09-2020, 10:04 AM.Comment

FOTY FOTD...who really cares about these awards? All of them are politically driven anyway- a glorified popularity contest.
Will Pac and the other welterweight champions fight each other? That's the real question. FOTD Doesn't mean ****. The first Undisputed welterweight champion to hold all four belts holds true meaning.Comment

You can't count Floyd's win vs a way smaller opponent as in Manny. Now if Floyd fought at 154 for the whole decade like Manny fought above his normal weight class then you might have an argument.Comment

Pac was knocked out cold by Marquez last decade lol When did Floyd ever get knocked out cold? Also Floyd toyed with Marquez when they fought. Also Pacquiao went to war with Jeff Horn and LOST. He also couldn't ko Tim Bradley who was knocked down multiple times by Ruslan Provodnikov. Meanwhile Floyd beat Canelo and it wasn't even close, he beat Pacquiao (and Pac lied about his shoulder hurting and said he had to swim in saltwater or some sh** to heal it lol haha ) which were both two of the biggest money making fights in boxing history. Pacquiao hasn't had PPV numbers even close to that without Floyd. With him getting knocked out cold and losing to Jeff Horn and Floyd Mayweather himself disqualifies him from fighter of the decade. But hey if beating Adrien Broner impresses you and beating Keith "I get injured sometime" Thurman who almost got ended by Josessito Lopez and barely survived a body shot from Luis Collazo I understand. No
Pac lost to Floyd, got flattened by JMM. Got a gift vs JMM, went life and death with Horn.
I don’t mind saying Pac could be the fighter of the previous decade but not the last one. He still has some very good wins though.Comment

I agree
Pacman definitely is so underrated he definitely is the best of all, Mayweather and Canelo and Triple G are also up there but I think they would also agree that Pacman deserves the title.Comment
