Ha yeah, I feel you brother, though it's worth noting that I used 2 more x2s than you and I'm still only 40 points ahead so you'll get no sympathy here!

It's times like this I start to wish we hadn't made the scoring sytem so public and transparent.

I must have missed this prior, the x5 can only be used on an underdog?

        Thanks for updating btw!!
Good catch. Yes indeed you should have been WLW, although otherwise I scored you correctly. The only minor difference to the Leaderboard is that your longest streak moves from 2 to 3... it's very unlikely to make a major difference overall, but if it really comes down to the wire between a few guys with otherwise identical scores at the end of the year it could potentially become a ranking criteria. Anyways, s'all updated now both on the master leaderboard and the one above and on my own spreadsheets.

Bizarrely though the totals for the number of picks on each fighter (which I'd normally get to by totting up the Ls and Ws) seem unchanged which I can't quite fathom, presumably I miscounted by 1 on both of 'em, although that's just an interesting stat for reference and comparison's sake and has no actual impact on the game or rankings.

And yeah, I figured I liked the idea of a potential game changing multiplier - a 'hail Mary' if you like - but thought just making another multiplier that everyone would save up for some laughable mismatch kinda missed the point a bit so I figured we'd try something different. FWIW that's the direction I'd prefer to go with all the multipliers, make it so they could only go on the fights where there wasn't a massive favourite... I'm thinking they'd mean more that way. But... well it is what it is, I quietly suggested the idea at the start of the year and the response was tepid so let's see what folk make of the x5 this year and we can discuus any further changes when it comes round to thinking about 2021.

Pretty lame circle jerk here. Despite being one of the highest scorers, some players dont get the same credit or for some reason.

Bias league is a bush league..

Didn't have you pegged as a dude who'd need positive reinforcement, man.

Seriously though, for anyone who's interested I got a system for the shoutouts too, same as I do for everything else and if you're really concerned that there's some bias in there I invite you to check back over the 2019 and 2018 threads linked in the OP to confirm it.

If it's a quiet week or nothing much of anythings happened, say a brace of snafu mismatches where everyone got em both right with a stack of perfect picks then I'll give shoutouts to the dudes who got the higher scores with their multipliers. In general however I'll prioritise mentioning the dudes who were most accurate with their picks, especially those who got most perfect picks, which I consider a more valuable achievement than using your multipliers like a scattergun. Finesse over brute force is what gets you most credit round here, and in fact I explained in the shoutouts exactly what my reasons were for crediting certain players, same as I always do.

Obviously new players will get a shoutout too, as will unusual or exceptionally good or fortunate picks - dudes who picked a Draw correctly or scored on a big underdog or - as in the case of this week - used a x5 successfully on a perfect pick (although if we get a shit ton of 'em placed on Deontay and he scores the KO in a coupla weeks I ain't gonna be shouting everyone individually ).

That's the way I always done it man, regardless of whether I like a dude or not in the wider forum .... meh, you'll see. You don't know me yet but you'll come to realise I ain't about playing favourites. You do something special you'll get the credit for it... and to be fair you are putting in a decent showing so far, it's just you're chewing through your multipliers at the kinda pace that appears unsustainable to hold your position.

So being a new player to the league and rising from 6 to 3rd in the current ranking isnt
              “Special” enough ic.

As far as using my multipliers, there is a method to the madness and whether I be using few or many at any stage is a strategy. For sure this is chess, not checker.

But there is a long way to go and 3rd isnt acceptable. That’s failure status and I will keep performing and elevating.

I will say it like this. The only players who can criticize are the ones ranked above me and there are only two.... for the time being.

The rest of you can continue hating and trying harder lol.

I explained my critria for shoutouts, man, and they're the same ones I always used. The fact that you imagine I care about you enough to 'hate' on you or discriminate against you says something, I guess, but possibly not what you imagine...

But sure as for the game I wish you all the best, and genuinely hope your strategy pays off. Contrary to what you might imagine I actually welcome someone in the game looking to shake things up a bit. Provided it doesn't get outta hand a good bit of banter and rivalry ain't a bad thing

What’d you just say? I couldn’t hear you over your unsustainable lead

Perhaps if you put as much effort into researching the fights as you do **** talking your competition, maybe you'd have a higher than 57% success rate? Or at least one worthy enough of the kind of recognition and credit you feel like you deserve.
