No. You're wrong. The boxing equivalent of a sports agent is the fighter's manager, not his promoter. The promoter is like the team owner in other sports. The boxing manager, like the sports agent, has a fiduciary duty to the athlete. Meaning they have a legal obligation to put the athlete's financial best interest first. The team owner in other sports, or the promoter in boxing, has no fiduciary duty to the athlete. Their job is to pay the athlete as little as possible and try to make the greatest profit possible on their events.
Wrong again. The fighter pays his manager, not his promoter (except in the PBC model where fighters are self promoted and hire promoters for a set fee to do the ground work). It kills me when a fighter is ask who does he wants to fight next. His reply is, talk to my promoter or I have to talk to my team. You're the athlete and you pay the promoter/agent.Comment

I can't wait till this fight finally happens and Bud gets humbled. Spence is such a massive step up in competition for him. He's not as ready as he thinks he is.Comment
-
I don`t care. Spence had an accident. He is unable to fight right now. he will probably take a tune up or two if/when he returns.
Crawford should take Porter fight.Comment
-
Why do you think Spence will take a tune-up let alone two when he's already mentioned numerous times that he ain't down for that?
Bud/Spence is the fight that needs to happen next for these guys.
Anymore marination might result in Errol losing before he even gets to face Crawford.
Maybe that's why Errol has been abit more vocal as of late about Bud cause he knows. Lol.Comment

I dont get how some fans can be so hypocritical on here. When Thurman came back from a long layoff due to injury he was widely criticized for not fighting Spence straight away, some people on here were even calling him a coward.
Now the same people are saying its not fair for Crawford to call out Spence because he's damaged goods and needs multiple tune-ups? Laughable, I wouldnt even have a problem with Spence having a tuneup fight to see where he is but the fact that he's pushing for a Danny Garica or Pac fight tells me he's healthy enough to fight Crawford.Comment

Nobody is gonna boycott Errol Spence fights when he is fighting elite welterweights like Pacquiao, Thurman, Porter, Ugas, and Danny Garcia.
You know which fights are gonna be boycotted? Terrence Crawford fights, because he is busy getting knocked down by mean Machi level fighters.Comment

Spence wants the fight, Crawford is DESPERATE for the fight.I think its clear crawford wants the fight as does spence . But bud seems to be making more of a clear statement on his desire to make this happen .....I just wanna know what's the hold up if what both these guys are saying is true . Why cant they admit their promoters want to " marinade " it and they have no say . That would be refreshing. Imo this is the best match in boxing right now that is at a boiling point and needs to happen ( besides the heavies ) .
Spence could use the fight, Crawford NEEDS the fight.
That's the difference between them. Spence has options, Crawford doesn't.
Spence doesn't have to do what's good for Crawford's career if it ain't good for his. Spence has elite welters to fight like Pac, Danny, and Thurman, Crawford getting knocked down by Mean Machines.
Also, there is no way Spence would fight Crawford straight from the accident ANYWAY, you have to be super delusional to believe that there is any chance of that happening.Comment

Nah by then he will have made Shakur Stevenson into the next big thing.Crawford is my favorite fighter, but in all honesty, he doesn’t have the control he thinks he has. There is a reason that De La Hoya, Mayweather, Cotto, Mikey Garcia, and Cotto all left Top Rank. It’s obvious Bud didn’t do his research. He should have at least sat down to the table with PBC to hear their pitch. Although he is a future hall of famer, he would have a legendary career if he signed with PBC, who has the best crop of welterweights since the golden 80’s. Arum can’t afford Crawford losing to any PBC fighter. Lomo, Crawford, and Fury are the only fighters truly keeping Top Rank above water. Arum will be irrelevant like Don King once those guys lose or retire.Comment
