Ask boxing circles who is the best boxer you will get a more relevant answer to this convo, because under the guise of star etc its a BS thread which is a neg or a prop as boxers .
That is the point, Floyd never transcended the sport. Tyson did.

Floyd is a name but he’s not a name that carries past him being active
Mike Tyson hasn’t fought in 15 years and we know who his is he is synonymous with boxing the same with Ali
Conor is a global star that you could talk to people that don’t watch mma and they will have heard of him
Floyd has never and will never have that level of stardom

Nope, Tyson was and still is much bigger name then Mayweather. Tyson did almost the same money Mayweather did but back in the 90s, when there was no social media to promote.
Everyone knows Tyson, but not everyone knows the Mayweather name.

Mike was notoriously controversial anti social he never earned anywhere near Floyds money and he never drew anywhere near the numbers so Im not sure what you call a star as Floyd could buy Mikes life 3 times over, if you are not the bigger star how do you earn 5 times the money .
He's miles ahead of Tyson regarding PPV so maybe Mike is more known amongst society as a whole but Floyd is the King in the boxing world.

Tyson is far more known than Floyd Mayweather simply because Tyson fought in an era when there was no internet or social media or hardly any other forms of entertainment outside of sports and movies. Newspapers were mainstream back then so every time you walk into a store oh, you would see Tyson on the front page. Completely different world now where everyone has different forms of entertainment after fingertips. I think if Tyson fought in this area he would not be anywhere close to as popular as he was.
He also fought in an era where televisions were usually one per household. So you would have to gather around the TV with the family and decide on what to watch.Last edited by HitmanTommy; 01-07-2020, 04:18 AM.
