well he's not Mexican which is why you had no clue who he is. But for context, in his prime, he would've wiped the floor with Andy ruiz.Comment

David Haye destroyed John Ruiz & Audley Harrison, and before that his first fight at heavyweight was Monte Barrett 'In comparison to Uysk? Haye was actually acting like he wanted to fight real heavyweights.Let's be honest, though, and check the crude facts beyond the memory. Mormeck was a solid fighter but not an ATG, so wasn't Haye. His only defense after that was against no-hoper Maccarinelli.
Then an immediate jump to heavyweights, an alphabet trinket won against a freak who could not box, defended against no less than John Ruiz and Audley Harrison, and mostly remembered for the little toe farce after Klitschko whitewashed him.
Not to mention being knocked out by Carl Thompson, even if Haye was still green then.
Not exactly the stuff of legends. Again, he made millions with the little he had.
David Haye in my opinion was a better cruiser-weight and heavyweight than Usyk 'Time will tell, soon as Usyk faces a game prepared heavyweight? He will be bullied out of the division'.
Note: David Haye actually fought Tomasz Bonin as his first fight at heavyweight. You are also mentioning Carl Thompson's name as if he was a bad fighter, Thompson had the durability and power to spark Usyk.
Oleksandr Oleksandrovych Usyk is the most overrated fighter, I have seen in the sport of boxing for 20 years.
There is no 6"3 heavyweight active today with the attributes of David Haye, there is no heavyweight with his speed, reflexes, power or athleticism 'He also had sublime defensive capabilities'.Last edited by PRINCEKOOL; 01-05-2020, 08:58 AM.Comment

Haye was a skilled fighter. If he was born ten years later he'd be destroying these clowns now. I mean the division is so piss poor people think Tyson Fury is some slick master.

Haye was someone I followed quite closely, and was a fan of. But just looking at him you knew he was very undersized at HW and once his reflexes had gone, he was a target for anyone with semi decent skills.
He basically juiced and weight lifted himself into being a HW but all that big lifting and explosive training put massive strains on his body and eventually broke him down.
10000% credit to him though, he knew what it took to make a lot of money and knew how to sell himself to the casual audience brilliantly.Comment

Haye was never knocked out by Carl Thompson. It was a stoppage. Thompson was a very underrated and durable fighter and young Haye was beating the hell out of him before he gassed out.Let's be honest, though, and check the crude facts beyond the memory. He fought a Prime Chisora who was never hurt or wobbled up until that point and stopped him.
He also fought a guy who is 7 ft tall and made him do the chicken dance. Haye might have had the best career but your playing down his accomplishments a great deal. In a great deal of his fights at heavyweight he was giving up a significant size and reach advantage to his opponentsComment

We'll see in a few years. All good points, still not sufficient (in my opinion) to include Haye in the pantheon of ATGs.Haye was never knocked out by Carl Thompson. It was a stoppage. Thompson was a very underrated and durable fighter and young Haye was beating the hell out of him before he gassed out.

But, as I replied above to PrinceKool, Canastota welcomes anyone who has a pulse these days.Comment

"The early rounds that i was winning?". He never got a good shot off in the whole fight. He thought Bellew was easy money, and like all these people who say they came in injured not 100%, you are basically admitting you were conning the public. So thanks Dave, from the heart of my bottom.. 🖕Comment
