  • Comments Thread For: Filip Hrgovic Talks Career, Wilder, Povetkin, Chisora, Ruiz, More

Croatian heavyweight Filip Hrgovic (10-0, 8 KOs) is beginning to make a name for himself in the division. After three wins in 2019 he rounded off the year in Saudi Arabia, as part of the Ruiz-Joshua II undercard, dismantling two-time world title challenger Eric Molina in less than three rounds.

The Sauerland-promoted 27-year-old is now inside the top ten of three of the four governing bodies and in 2020 will look to establish himself as a credible contender to the those at the top. Boxing Scene caught up with him recently to talk about his career and the rest of the heavyweight division.

I think he is the best of the next fleet of HW with Dubois just behind him but they both still have a lot to prove. Crushing Molina was a good start in his move up the ranks...

No way all talk, no action doper Whyte would fight him.

His best punch is a rabbit punch. Poor defense, poor footwork, limited offense. Honestly I don’t think this guy gets much passed where he is right now.

I can't say he's the best anything, but I have seen him improve. He looks like a boxer now, compared to what he was doing before. He's still learning and it shows. That's a good thing.

Hrgovic has been accused of rabbit punching in that fight. And indeed, Molina fought exactly like a rabbit. I would not consider that win as something to judge the Croatian for.

I see him as a very rigid heavyweight, and my su****ion is that he'll get iced as soon as someone hits him for good. A slightly improved version of Dmitry Kudryashov, if you ask me.

I have most of his fights. He got hit cleanly by Molina several times & he landed a rabbit punch but he pretty much made him quit. As I said earlier he has lots to prove. He has a few names on his resume after 10 fights

Guys that are mentioned have no business fighting Hrgovic. he is still unproven. Chisora gains better fights.
