If you are the best in your profession people will come and watch you 'Michael Phelps in a sport which is not mainstream, was able to rack up sponsors/endorsements'.
This may sound cliche, but Floyd Mayweather's success was down to his hard-work & dedication. We live in a culture where sometimes, society wants to see the demise of successful individuals 'Many people where motivated to see Floyd Mayweather fail, but that time never arrived'.Last edited by PRINCEKOOL; 01-03-2020, 06:48 PM.

It started with the passing of the torch fight with DLH. After that, he played the heel or villian to the letter and fought lots of popular Hispanic/Latin fighters and his mega rivalry with Philippino Manny Pac helped him boost his sales.

simple answer is he got himself on normal news. Complex answer deals with Daniel The *** Mendoza and the business practices he added to boxing in the 1780s.

How did he do it? He wasn't the flashiest fighter, not the most articulate, not the most charming. How did he become the richest boxer and possibly athlete in history?
Al Haymon.
Came from the music industry, in charge of boy bands and pop stars.
Haymon realized it was not about the talent it was about cultivating and growing your fanbase to make it big.
Floyd didn't have to boxing enteretainly, get knockouts fight the best fighters in their prime, it just needed to build his brand, do some WWE, do dancing with the stars, take easy fights that move him up a level.
Stay away from risk, be controversial and build a persona like the ****e girls each had to your fanbase can rally behind and they will support you no matter what.
Haymon done a great job, shame boxing suffered because of it.

Walking the walk and talking the talk. He talked ish got people interested and backed it up to where his haters wanted to see him lose so badly. The opposite of Broner. Broner talks the talk but can't walk it. If Broner could fight I think he'd be a decent PPV sell but his skill doesnt match his mouth

Floyd was able to sell so many gotdang PPV's cuz Floyd was a gotdang super star. Floyd has the gift of the gab and the resume and skills to back it all up. It doesnt matter that he wasnt the most exciting in the ring, although in his early days he was, but America had the best fighter in the world and they wanted part of it. He isnt like todays fighters that are telling people they are the best he was the best and he proved he was the best. If Floyd had been a national in any other country with the skills he had he would of been a superstar in those countries. Luckily he was a national in America which has the richest veins to be tapping into.
I always hated Floyd but life is what it is and im not salty enough to deny Floyd was just the complete package. You dont have to be the best to be a star or a super star you just have to be able to sell. Floyd could sell AND he was the best.

The answer to this question is because so many people tuned in to see the arrogant f***** lose, and on top of that he was the greatest fighter of his generation.
