Ggg vs SD was great, just that for me, all the factors involved in the Ruiz aj fight and how it played out makes it the best fight and it’s not close... in my opinion of course. You have the unified undefeated super popular AJ making his USA debut at the Mecca of boxing in Madison square garden NYC, it really doesn’t get much bigger than that... then you have the knockdown so we ALL said “ok fights over, AJ bout to end it” and for it to finish the way it did... wow

Spence Porter was a damn good fight, felt like Prograis v Taylor should be here too.

I agree. Overall, 2019 was a very enjoyable year of boxing. Dervy vs GGG was among my top 5 best fights of the year. Even though, I had Dervy edging it. I still thought it was a good fight.

Very irresponsible for a publication to name a clear robbery fight of the year. You lost a ton of credibility.

Here's the 5th grade reasoning of Golovkin haters, "If I hate a fighter he's 100% bad, he's got no redeeming qualities and there's no way he can be in a FOTY".
GGG haters aren't the dumbest mofos to walk the earth but they close.

Good work Boxing Scene. Two older guys laid it on the line and gave all they had in a close fight. I was there live and don’t mind this one as the best. Williams vs. Hurd was a bit one-sided. Porter/Spence was sloppy but l has action. Loved Inoue vs. Donaire. That could’ve won also.

Not better than inoue-donaire or as meaningful as thurman-pac. FOTY is a good way to jot a fight down into the history books for easy revisiting. Ggg-derev aint worthh that.

Another honorable mention would be Harris vs. Barnes, short and sweet brawl:

Chuta - I just watched the Barnes-Harris fight video (thanks) that was a helluva brawl and very skilled and courageous from the smaller guy.

To what extent is FOTY awarded based on closeness of the fight and drama, as opposed to high level of ability displayed by both fighters. This fight had the former, but am hesitant to say it had the latter.

GGG is a hofer, but he looked washed up in this fight and hung on for a win that his younger version would have dominated. That doesnt come off as a FOTY in all aspects to me.
