Hence the 168 offer. Chad Dawson couldn’t be the only one whom would want a nice payday even though Bivol would get significantly more of course.

And people forget that all Kovalev had to do was get a win over Yarde. Everyone predicted Kovalev with an early KO. You can’t fault Canelo on that outcome. People just mad salty.

Realize that’s the whole X Factor. If Kovalev was “shot” then the predictions vs Yarde would’ve been complete different. Besides, AJ started late too in his career yet look at what he’s done against elites. Nobody knew Yarde would go for broke.

The predictions for Kovalev vs Yarde were tempered with remembering the fighter that was not the fighter that got in the ring. There was no agreement to fight Kovalev prior to Yarde just negotiation from the Canelo camp. It was well played. They got him on the hook and waited to see how he did against Yarde before they brought him in the boat. I don't even like Kovalev. I've always thought he was arrogant and disrespectful of John David before the Ward fights and the subsequent split. He was at odds with Sanchez and effectively got kicked out of his gym. He got a well deserved loss but it wasn't a monumental achievement for Canelo. It was a good win but nothing more.
