Because he sold out. Prior to his first bout with Canelo he was supposed to challenge Billy Joe Saunders for the undisputed Middleweight crown but he passed on it.

He allowed Oscar to strong arm him into not taking the fight. Secondly, after Canelo popped dirty for doping before their rematch; He chose to fight Vanes Martirosyan instead of his mandatory challenger Serhiy Derevyanchenko and got stripped of his IBF title.

Then when it was the time for him to fight Charlo for the WBC's final eliminator once again he passed on it into believing that he would get an immediate rematch with Canelo Alvarez which never happened.

i am just answering your question honestly dude, no worries. He could have ducked him for instance by dumping the title.

Would be really bad to have only one top ranker of his division in his entire career though in Lemieux.

Facing Jacobs doubled the amount of top rankers he fought.
the guy has been a pro for 14 years, and he had 40 fights... don't you think you should be able to name more than one?

when will the penny finally drop with you guys... ?
i agree he left it late to face a top contender at 35.

          1) it appears that Golovkin detractors were correct

          2) it appears that Golovkin fans still do not care

          3) ... and this is the real kicker...

... apart from Canelo, who was a cashout... when has Golovkin EVER selected the best opponent... ?

NO, wait... it is much worse than that, I will change the question...

... when has a Golovkin selection ever been an opponent who was not the easiest possible (often reasonable, often not) option... ?

even in his top fights... Lemieux for example, was the easiest possible option to participate in a supposed championship-level fight... just like Derevyanchenko, rather than Charlo/Andrade, was the easiest possible option for a supposed championship-level fight

I have been watching Golovkin tip-toe through the tulips for YEARS... as his adoring fanbase insist that he is a fearless warrior... get this, maxi just created a thread rebuking fans for supporting fighters who will not step up

          wtf ?

I truly do not understand what some people see in boxing, and why they follow the sport... and the way some describe certain fights makes me wonder what they actually saw

I really REALLY wish that Pirog didn't get hurt. The division would have been so much better, plus Golovkin/Pirog was signed for the WBO when he got hurt.

hasn't been a decent WBO MW champ since.

Well he actually got stripped for not fighting Derev AFTER Vanes. I personally don't think Chenko would've faced Golovkin for 225K, despite what his team were saying, some of it being contradictory. And I still don't get how Golovkin was supposed to fight Charlo even though Charlo technically was the next fighter for Canelo. He was "promised" the winner of Canelo/Golovkin, yet we saw how the franchise champion ****ed all that up. Still think he has a good shot at beating Charlo but I don't know what the **** he and his team are planning.

They won a middleweight title belt. It would be one thing if it was a voluntary defense but it would have been a mandatory defense. Don't want to fight a middleweight at middleweight then don't win the middleweight belt.

              .

And this is how I know you're a fuc king troll hater who doesn't give a crap about the best fighting the best. You crap on GGG for not fighting Andrade, Charlo, Lara or a young Dervyenchko. Charlo, Lara and Dervychenko are all PBC fighters. You shi t on GGG for not fighting these guys but you don't say a peep about these motherfu ckers aren't even fighting each other even though they are signed to the same promotion. Andrade, Lara and Charlo were all champions at 154. They never fought each other. Andrade and Charlo are champions at 160 now. Yet you whine about GGG not fighting them at 160 when these motherf uckers have been champions in the same division on two separate occasions without fighting each other.

Then you have the nerve to crap on GGG's resume and hype of Lara. Did you see whom Lara fought between the Alvarez and Jarrett Hurd fights? Ishe Smith, Delvin Rodriguez, Jan Zavack, Terrell Gausha, Yuri Foreman and Vanes Mayterwhogivesa***. That's absolute dog sh it and objectively much worse than GGG's resume at the time.

And a younger Derevyenchko? Shut the hell up. If GGG fought Derevychenko at a younger age you would have crapped on him for taking on an unknown.

I explained this away earlier. Do your homework fool.

From 2015-2018, I think GGG has fought who he needed to (Canelo, Jacobs, Lemieux, Murray). It's prior to the HBO machine that his career was in dire straits. He doesn't have Sturm, Martinez and Pirog to strengthen his resume. No N'Dam or Quillin to pad it out. I'm not saying every MW was avoiding him, but some actually were.

I hope that GGG gives Andrade a shot instead of perpetuating the injustices that were done to him.

GGG aint taking no high risk fights unless he has to. And in the mean time he rather find local barbers to fight.

he hadnt won a title before that time, its only 2015 onwards that he can expect title level opposition as granted.
