Dan Rafael: Gervonta Davis #5 Lightweight

Just checked out ESPN’s updated rankings. After the Gamboa fight, Dan Rafael now considers Tank Davis the fifth best at 135. He states his criteria thusly: “As a general rule, the rankings are based on what a fighter has accomplished in the weight division in which he is ranked, although his overall body of work is not entirely ignored.”

So nearly going the distance with the shell of an old, one-legged fighter is an “accomplishment in the weight division”? Lol

    The list goes like this:
    1. Lomachenko
    2. Lopez
    3. Pedraza
    4. Campbell
    5. Davis
    6. Haney
    7. Commey
    8. Fortuna
    9. Barthelemy
    10. Selby

After watching Davis-Gamboa, I’m not at all sure Tank beats some of the guys ranked beneath him. Debuting him at number five seems a little generous.

That's not a bad spot to rank him at. He already murked Pedraza who is ahead of him.

True, but that was at 130, and Pedraza has a longer history at lightweight. Tank probably belongs in the top ten anyway, but that performance against Gamboa doesn’t inspire tremendous confidence at 135.

Cool list considered Tank beat Pedraza, who is now a super lightweight.

How can Tank be ranked #5 when he only had one LW win against Gamboa?

That's a fair listing imo. He shouldn't currently be ranked any higher than that but fifth is ok.

Clowns said Crawford was the top welterweight after just the Horn fight 😂. Hell they call him the top welterweight now based off Horn, peg legged Jose Bumavidez, washed up Amir Khan, and Eurobum Mean Machine 😂. The Eurobum dropped him and he got less **** than Tank for some odd reason. P4P da best doe

Fair list except Pedraza is now at 140 so Davis is #4.

Is Dan even watching the fights on his own network? Pedraza fought Zepada at 140
