Again though, I gotta ask what your point is... seems to me you're trying to say folk who want to watch the best fights irrespective of nationality or weight are somehow at fault here or being disloyal to the sport or something... care to clarify that a little?
Again you didn't do what I asked you. Go read the articles when Haymon was let go at HBO and also the articles when Nelson was hired. If you can't admit at the time both moves where popular among hardcore and media and the consensus was this was good for boxing then we can't continue the conversation.

Link me up, man, and I will read. I ain't got time to go trawling for a load of articles which might not even be the ones you're refering to, especially when I ain't even 100% clear on whether I'm understanding your point. If they were indeed popular moves amongst the 'hardcore' (a term which probably requires a little definition if we're gonna get into this) I wouldn't have any problem admitting that.. why would I?

Besides it doesn't change the central issue that you appear to have reversed cause and effect with the assertion of the thread. Irrespective of whether some people liked the idea HBO didn't choose the cheaper path because they thought it'd be more popular, but because it was... well.. cheaper.

And perhaps you'd care to answer my question? That cuts to the chase anyway - saves you having to 'prove' that hardcore fans don't know shit about the economics of boxing. Feels like I'm doing more than my share of the running around in my discussions with you recently, man.

        Revisionist History

The last few years at HBO didn’t give fans what they wanted, That’s why they’re no longer around

They had some great PPV fights and the rest was almost always sub par garbage especially after TR jumped ship HBO just didn’t have the names to put on good matchups consistently.

Focusing on the Lowest Weigjt Classes and Foreigners was a move done because they had almost no Top US fighters or at the very least speak English to promote and could pay these guys pennys on the dollar to what you pay the top Guys Who are bigger and/Or American.

HBo could put on Superfly for for less then what 1 Top WWs purse would cost

The fight game I believe was created because HBO still believing they were the leader and most trusted brand in the sport could air a show that hype their own fighters / brand / Product while downplaying / Criticizing everyone associated with the brand that leapfrogged them in no time flat as being the #1 Brand / Product in the sport and thought that they could shape the narrative and opinion of the typical dumb boxing fan who would be more concerned with everything wrong with the PBC and not pay attention / realize / criticize the sinking ship that was HBO who went from having the #1 spot on lock for decades to falling to #3 and who was becoming increasingly irrelevant in the sport in record time
