Mikey missed his opportunity @135. Maybe weight was the issue? 18 months ago I would of picked him over Loma, Haney, Lopez & Tank.

It was slightly embarrassing.Comment

Fighting Spence was both a cowardly and foolish move because he refused to try and compete with him. Like he said “Losses are a part of boxing. You lost. So what? I fought the best guy in the division and moved up two weight classes Why should I be sad and crying?"
Which tells me that it was nothing more than a face saving move to duck Lomachenko. However, if he would have lost to a man his own size who is just as skilled or more skilled than himself, then he wouldn't be able deal with the loss so graciously.Comment

It was nothing more than a face saving move in order to avoid fighting Lomachenko. It's like "Look at me I am fighting a much larger and stronger fighter than Loma".
No that move made Mikey look far from being brave. It made him look more like a coward because he refused to try to fight Spence and plus he ducked the best fighter and competition in and around his won weight division.Comment

I'm not sure about that one but he definitely ditched Loma by fighting Erroll Spence. It was a face saving move in order to fool fans into believing that he was brave and courageous but nothing about fighting Spence was courageous.

It's probably true. That's why he has one the lousiest resume's in boxing today. It's because he is afraid of taking on real risks and challenges.Comment

It happened and most knew what was going to happen - it never felt like one of those real challenges in a P4P type moving up in weight to test himself.
He never even acclimated himself to WW like a lot of fighters who are serious about moving up... he just showed up to give Spence some shine for the greater good of the PBC, that's what it always felt like. I feel like a lot of hardcore fans wanted that platform for Spence so a lot of Mikey's previous track record went overlooked...the guy has been on/off a lot of his career involve din lawsuits and the rest. I wanted Spence to make the next push too, but it felt very forced and not genuine.
It only feels like it didn't happen now because Spence has not come out looking that great himself either after Porter and the wreck.
I think Vargas is a good fight though, Jessie is about as honest as they come so I think Mikey will have to work and really show something to win. For some reason I just don't trust or believe a lot of what Mikey says but I'll hold off and watch this fight, I really want to be wrong in my opinion on him.
Maybe it’s the instant gratification generationComment

Nah, when he couldn't get in & was getting hit he realized he was in for a long night. Mikey showed good defense in that fight which people aren't talking about cuz if he didn't use his D he would of been stopped.Comment

He didn't really make excuses & he had the heart to get in there.Comment
