i hear you...im amazed some of these guys dont seem to learn from guys like zab and broner...
i remember zab...at the very tail end of his career when hes was fighting vernon paris.....they would do interviews with him and you could tell at that point hed finally matured...he realized the checks he used to get werent coming anymore and soon they wouldnt be coming at all....you could tell he knew he wasted much of his career partying and trying to be in lil kim videos......
but sometimes thats just youth....you just turned 25 and youre pulling up to the venue in a lamborghini......the average kid isnt equipped to handle that all correctly....hopefully floyd really addresses this with him if its truly the case
i actually think tank is a good kid that wants to do right and wellComment

I always felt Zab could've rivaled or surpassed Floyd if he had his discipline and mental toughness but that wasn't his hand. I think Tank means well but it may be a case of too much too soon and him being a product of the era he's grown up in where it's better to look part than be the part. Nobody really wants to do the ugly work behind the scenes, they just want to show up when the lights and cameras are on and receive the accolades.i hear you...im amazed some of these guys dont seem to learn from guys like zab and broner...

There are so many cautionary tales that at some point, you think people would start taking notes. Hell, Tyson was 22 or so when he was on top of the world but at least he came close to or possibly maxed out his potential, regardless of how short-lived it may have been.Comment

its even more crazy when you have a mentor like floyd co-signing you....i mean...if anyone did it the right way and completely seperated themselves its him....I always felt Zab could've rivaled or surpassed Floyd if he had his discipline and mental toughness but that wasn't his hand. i dont know what tank does between fights or in camp....but it def should be monitored now by the guys signing the checks to him.....for all we know tank could be behaving himself relatively well and hes just having a weight problem.....dont really know....but it needs to checked on by the money menComment

broner was still ending fights at 135...when he went to 147 he wasnt knocking guys out
tank moved up 5 lbs...i dont think theres a ton of difference in size between 130-135....now 135-147 is a difference
because tank didnt end is at early as you expected doesnt mean its over for him.....thats your only real explanation for why it didnt happen when/how you expected.....they dont fight or play games on paper.....things happen...you cant accept that it might have just been a strange night or gamboa was leaving it all out there and tougher than you thought......its like the only explanation you can fathom is davis cant crack and is now pure garbage lolComment

Wise and honest assessment. I like it when a fan of a certain fighter can be honest even in tough times. Being a POS fanboy that most fans or should i say newbie fans is quite tiring. That's just the reality.
A lot of us thought highly of him going into that fight but his performance was disappointing. A guy who is potentially special should have looked the part, especially against an aged Gamboa. But he didn't.
I don't know if it's because he is gaining too much weight between fights. Or maybe he took it easy during training camp. Or perhaps his power isn't going to carry up to 135 lbs.
I'm not prepared to give up on the guy but there are red flags about him now. Hopefully he buckles down and finds his discipline again otherwise he could be on the road to becoming another wasted talent.Comment

That's the thing, I don't know how hands-on Floyd is with Tank. Something tells me he just shows up when the cameras are there and then leaves him alone for the rest of the year lol. That or Tank just takes what he wants from Floyd such as the persona, he flamboyance, etc while ignoring the "hard work & dedication" mantra.its even more crazy when you have a mentor like floyd co-signing you....i mean...if anyone did it the right way and completely seperated themselves its him....
