He'll get in eventually regardless.
There aren't than many dudes with 4 separate world title reigns (plus one interim title reign) in 2 divisions, including 11 total wins in title fights (plus one interim title win) and an undisputed title reign.Comment

I always liked Zab. We went to his Floyd fight cause that’s the matchup we wanted to see. I think ur right with the luck of the draw on who u end up having to compete with to try and get in. I just watched Inoue vs Donaire. They called Donaire a for sure first ballot HOF’er. I know I read an article in the NFL people/analysts/commentators always use that term to describe players but in truth it’s actually way overstated. It’s extremely rare and hard to be a first ballot, worth looking up. I couldn’t find a list of first ballot inductees for boxing, I know it hasent been around that long. I could see Zab not getting in, and others maybe less worthy get in or vice versa. He will probably get in eventually, his resume is deep even if he didnt always win.
It just depends on who else is up against him those years in the nominations. Some years you get 3 guys who are basically a lock for it,
This year the nominees are "Jorge Arce, Timothy Bradley, Vuyani Bungu, Joel Casamayor, Diego Corrales, Carl Froch, Bernard Hopkins, Sergio Martinez, Juan Manuel Marquez, Shane Mosley, Antonio Tarver and Israel Vazquez."
Thats a lot of good fighters not going to make it because to me Hopkins, JMM and Mosley are basically shoe ins.Comment

Zab might be the perfect example of a fighter who should ‘just’ miss by a little bit. Pass on him and then use him as a measuring stick for future potentials. Better than Zab? In. Equal to or less than? Out.Comment

I don't think so. He's had a good career but not good enough. He's one of those guys who was good enough to compete with the best guys but not beat them. His best wins were over Corey Spinks, Lucas Mattysse, Junior Witter, Demarcus Corley and Mickey Ward. Those are some solid names to have on your resume but generally speaking when he fought the elite guys he lost. I think if he had one or two wins over those guys who beat him then you put him in the HOF.Is Zab Judah a HoF fighter? He was at one point the undisputed Welterweight, and has a relatively short prime. Because after his loss to Carlos Baldomir, it was all down hill for Judah.
But he has accomplishments, he defended his IBF lightwelterweight for 5 times before losing to Kosta Tzyu for the undisputed. And then won against Cory Spinks to become the undisputed Welterweight.Last edited by yankees7448; 01-01-2020, 01:30 AM.Comment

Zab's biggest obstacle is he lost all of his biggest fights. Tough to get into the HOF when that's the case. If I still have a vote when he's on the ballot, I'll give him some consideration for sure, but it might be tough to vote for him. I do think winning another world title in 2011 really helped his cause though. He might get in.Comment

Again, I didn't say he wasn't worthy but considering they only let three in per year, doubtful.Comment

The bar is lower on the HoF than most realize. For that reason Zab could for sure end up in there.
Just depends on with who he gets eligible with. And also how long he can stay among the guys voted on which is something I still don't understand how they do. Somehow those wonky ass HoF dudes JUST added Diego Corrales, whos been dead over a decade not just retired, to the list along with others. That sh^t made 0 sense to me.Comment
