Aha. Wasn't really paying attention but I thought I saw someone mention they'd paid for it in the fight thread (and someone else wondering why ).

Hmm. Can't find the purses for Davis - Gamboa, just a reference to Davis getting in excess of a $ mil (7 figures as reported) minus whatever he paid for missing weight.

Was a PPV here in Canada due to the co main, I was the one who questioned that guy in the group thread lol.

        Couple of things...

        1. If Davis feels be is a major draw and wants to take his time in building his career, that’s his right, it’s also our right as fans to boycott his ass till he starts fighting good fighters

        2. Lomachenko or any other top boxer tank may avoid, but specially Lomachenko shouldn’t wait around for tank to offer a fight. They need to worry about their own career and make legacy defining fights and if/when tank comes knocking on door to fight... it it’s too late, deny tanks ass of that legacy building name too!

To me it does. I just find Loma vs Davis much more intriguing that Loma vs Lopez.
And unlike most people I'm not ready to discard Davis as a hype job just yet.
I still give him a good chance to beat Loma.

Mr Cash Cow, how much did you earn in this match?

Likely, a bit more though I ain't sure it's the kinda difference you'd tear someone's hand off for, yet. Tank is a bigger star than Lopez - and will probably remain so for the immediate if he can keep his shit together, but I ain't sure he's quite the superstar some are claiming yet, even if he's on his way.

You run into the problem you always get with this kinda shit though that having to split the purse more equally means that very often two A sides fighting each other end up earning no more than they would fighting someone who's less of a draw but takes a smaller split. Not quite sure how the dynamics of this particular matchup would work for that.

I ain't really on the pulse with public feeling in the US but I'm not getting the sense from the 'Scene that anyone's really seeing this one as some kinda mega-fight that'd do some massive PPV though.

he didnt miss weight. He had an hour to lose the 1.2 pounds, and he made weight. So no penalty......

That was you huh? Yeah, went to bed after Lonnie B vs Uzcategui then just kinda skimmed the thread in the a.m to get a feel for how the main events had gone, but I got a lil chuckle outta that one.

                      Actually..

"Balitmore’s Davis will pay an undisclosed fine out of his seven-figure purse to the Georgia Athletic & Entertainment Commission for failing to make weight on his first attempt. Part of that fine will be paid to Gamboa, a three-division champion from Cuba.

Davis weighed a career-high 136¼ pounds the first time he tried to make weight for what was promoted as his debut as a full-fledged lightweight. Davis arrived nearly two hours late to a weigh-in Showtime streamed live because he was trying to shed pounds right up until he had to step on the scale."
